It’s about teaching them to listen, process information, understand expectations, and follow through.

From an occupational therapy perspective, following instructions involves several foundational skills:
🧠 Auditory processing and attention
👂🏾 Active listening
💭 Receptive language and comprehension
📋 Sequencing and task completion
🎯 Executive functioning

🚨 The fine motor crisis is real, and we need to talk about it.

And when these challenges go unrecognized, the gap between what a child is expected to do and what they are developmentally prepared to do can continue to grow.

Meet Tovie 🚲🎮 — an upcoming pedal-to-play product designed to combine movement and interactive play while supporting children’s regulation, engagement, and participation.

✨ What caught my OT eye?
🔹 Pedal-to-Play™: Movement powers interactive gaming.
🔹 Quiet Mode: Pedal without additional screen-based stimulation.
🔹 Movement breaks: An option to incorporate movement into daily routines.
🔹 Hands-free movement: Pedaling while keeping little hands available for other activities.
.
.
From therapy sessions to classrooms and home routines, Tovie offers an interesting approach to making movement part of a child’s day!

The Sideways Rocker by @tedkangaroo caught my attention because it gives children an opportunity for controlled movement while remaining seated.
.
And of course, my little OT tester had to try it! 🥰
.
Thank you @tedkangaroo for gifting us the Sideways Rocker! We’re excited to keep putting it to the test. ♥️

Sometimes the child who “can’t sit still” doesn’t need more correction—they need more appropriate opportunities to MOVE.

Save this for your next movement break! ❤️
