29: 🦋The Year of Metamorphosis🦋
•
For me, the end of August always represents a new year and new energy. Year 28 pushed me to focus on flow. I let go of the need for control and really allowed the Lord to steer my life without fuss or complaint from me. And steer, God did 😭. As I’m beginning 29, I find myself in a new career, the most challenging season of my doctoral journey yet, thousands of new eyes on the clock app, and a new pace of life with some new folks along for the ride. I’ve spent the last year learning to move at the pace God placed before me and honoring what did and did not come with it.
•
Heading into this final year of my 20s, I see many new life changing experiences and opportunities on the horizon. The last few years of disciplined abundance, surrender, consecration, and flow have prepared me for the season I’m now welcoming. For the first time in an incredibly long while, I have no clue what lies ahead (except graduation because I MUST finish this doctorate 😭) and yet I have so much peace.
•
I have peace that the God that formed me knew just what He was doing when He did it. I have peace that He who began a good work in me will bring it to completion. I have peace that all things do and will in fact work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. I have peace that while the weapons may in fact form, they have no ability to prosper. I have peace that the prayers of the righteous happen to avail much and that the God who made heaven and earth does actually care about what I have going on, so much so that the very Spirit that raised Him is in me.
•
With that knowledge, I walk into 29 excitedly expecting change and transformation. Life is a constant rhythm of metamorphosis, ushering us to change and pivot as things transition. I look forward to the beauty of what 29 has in store and what beautiful things lie ahead. 🦋 by @theabigailjcovington

I’ve been sitting this week grieved by the way I’m seeing the church body have this conversation around sexuality and who gets to do or say what. Much of it is full of ego and void of an accurate and holistic view of scripture. I wanted to share some thoughts I’ve been navigating through and hopefully it sparks some reflection for those it resonates with too.

Salute to @kevonstage for navigating high visibility while wrestling. It’s tricky to be simultaneously moving through thoughts and ideas people hold as essential to their being while questioning what they mean to you and managing an expanding platform. I don’t envy your position at all but I’m grateful for your courage to keep showing up and giving us the laughs we need.

P.S./PSA: These are my thoughts. If you don’t like them, that’s ok. If you get too comfortable in my comments, you will be blocked. I don’t argue with strangers on the internet. Thx! ✌🏾#blackchurch #seminary #theology #discipleship #christiantiktok by @theabigailjcovington

If you seen my recent stories then you know I’m making a return to active posting on Instagram. I’ve begun to amass a bit of a following on TikTok, but with recent changes to their algorithm, I’m expanding the spaces where my content is available. With that in mind, I’m beginning to share some of my most resonant content here on IG. In this video, I discussed how through his show, #DenofKings Kirk Franklin demonstrates listening in a way many other Christians should — with curiosity and suspended judgment. #discipleship #theology #blackchurch #emotionalintelligence by @theabigailjcovington

It’s safe to say, healing takes intentionality. 🫱🏿‍🫲🏻

Is “Black Church” racist or divisive? Maybe to some on the outside looking in, but when we look at history, the Black church was created as a response to white supremacy - even in the Church.

✨28: The Year to Embrace the Flow✨
27 was beautiful and fulfilling. After spending 26 centered on consecration and then 27 focused on surrender, there’s been this natural transition and soft landing into the space of just flowing.
•
My life is set apart and surrendered to the Most High and so naturally I now spend my days walking and ✨flowing✨ as the daughter of not just a king but The King. It’s restful here. It’s peaceful here. It’s abundant here. Now… I do crash out every so often 😭 but then God reminds me He doesn’t need my approval for His methods. I remember I’m not consumed by the ocean because He commands it to stop at a certain boundary and every morning the sun rises and then sets again in the evening because He’s given it parameters on its limits and design. With these thoughts, I remember that in His divine brilliance he created me then ordered my steps. All that’s left to do is simply… flow.
•
So that’s the energy this year folks. Flowing into these massive doors God has been opening and flowing out of places that I’ve been able to grow in but no longer fit inside. What a blessing to have spent some time in Mexico by/on the ocean earlier this month. It reminded me of the power of knowing who and what you are and moving, functioning, and flowing as designed. In doing so, I find joy in the simple things.

Psalms 24 tells us that “the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live on it for he founded it in the seas and established it on the waters.” So now, in knowing that, I just flow. Cheers to 28! 🥂 by @theabigailjcovington
