A huge thank you to everyone who made this Performers’ Wellbeing event in Woking such a special evening. It was a privilege to help facilitate one of the workshops and to hear from such inspiring guest speakers.

Together we raised £500 for @ActorsTrust 🎉

This funding can make a real difference by helping performers access medical appointments or physiotherapy, providing emergency grants for those facing crisis, and supporting actors who need practical care and wellbeing support.

The Actors’ Trust & Shadows Report 2026 highlights why this work matters:
• 77% of performers reported feeling lonely.
• 78% were experiencing mental health challenges.
• 84% reported low confidence or self-esteem.

Thank you to everyone who donated and contributed to such a meaningful evening.

Special thanks to @ActorsTrust, @Azemalptekin, @miriamkaerma for organising the event as part of Miss Surrey, @taka.strike.club, our photographer @HughMitchellPortraits, and everyone else who worked behind the scenes to make the evening such a success. Here’s to continuing to support the wellbeing of performers across our industry. ❤️ #wellbeing #woking #acting by @theactorscafe

"It is great to know that there is help available for performers'' 🤍

Last weekend, @miriamkaerma & Esther - proudly supported by @missgreatbritainsurrey - hosted a complimentary fundraising evening for actors and creatives, raising awareness and vital funds for us, Actors’ Trust 🤗

“My heart connected with Actors’ Trust from the very beginning. Reading the testimonies of how they have supported actors and creatives, the real impact they have made on people’s lives, moved me deeply. From our very first call, I felt their passion and fire, and their genuine desire to reach the next generation of performers to equip them with the right tools and resources so they can be better prepared to weather the ups and downs of this industry and rise with every wave.” — Miriam Kaerma

The evening was a resounding success, raising £500 for Actors’ Trust. 🎉

Guests enjoyed an interactive workshop with Netflix Voice Artist, West End actor, acting coach and founder of @theactorscafe, @johngouldactor followed by a powerful Q&A panel featuring actors and industry professionals whose credits include The Gentleman, The Red Notice, Sandman, Mission Impossible, Bridgerton, Warfare, Wicked, The Witcher and the 2012 Olympics. Real conversations. Raw. So much needed. 🎭

The evening also featured a silent auction and raffle, with over £1,900 worth of prizes generously donated by our incredible sponsors without whom none of this would have been possible. A heartfelt thank you to:

A huge thank you to Miriam and Esther for hosting, everyone who attended, and all those who donated. Every penny raised will go directly towards supporting performers in need. 💛

$This is me with my very first drama tutor, Rob. My stepdad met him in a pub in Woking in the early 90s. Pure chance. When I showed an interest in drama at school, my step dad said, “I know a guy.” That “guy” ran a youth drama group in a church hall overlooking Woking town centre. It was safe. Non-judgemental. Playful. A place where young people could improvise, be ridiculous, explore morals, values, and belong. That space changed my life. It gave me confidence, friendships, purpose outside school — and eventually led to youth theatre, lead roles, drama school, agents, tours, the West End… and a life in the arts. Years later, I reconnected with a friend from that group. He said the same thing I felt: Rob created a platform where people felt safe to be themselves. And that stays with you. That’s why I do what I do now. Why I created The Actors’ Cafe. Because play — real play — isn’t childish. It’s how we discover who we are. And maybe the world feels as fractured as it does because we’ve forgotten how to do that safely. This is my small way of returning the gift. #safespace #mentorshipmatters #powerofplay #theatrelife #creativecommunity by @theactorscafe$

Proud of our actor @barneyjonesactor who started his very first acting classes with us @theactorscafe. Great to see the multiple projects you’ve been a part of since joining us. I really enjoyed working with you in the sessions - a lovely guy with so much character and a natural realism about you on camera, it was nice to be able to nurture that talent.

“Really enjoying it and getting deeper into the roles which is really enjoyable … I owe it all to you mate ‘you can never be someone else, only yourself in their position’ thats what you said on my first lesson and that’s my mantra.” Barney Jones

Proud that our @theactorscafe actor/student @anilgoutamactor Anil Goutam played a series regular in @emmerdale. He portrayed Amit Sharma from October 2023 to March 2024 shortly after furthering his training with us.

“Thank you for all the advice, feedback and guidance over the last term. Really valuable insight and a lovely practical approach to teaching. Also, a great, supportive group of fellow students !” Anil Goutam

Anil has since joined other productions which we’ll post about soon ! #acting #actortraining #watford #actingcoach #actingschool by @theactorscafe
