Keeping our counters *mostly* clear of the school paper clutter 👏 because my goodness the amount of papers that come home is a lot, at least for our kindergartener!

My solution: find a spot to hang up those extra special papers or projects (we use a family bulletin board!), put the rest in a basket nearby and go through the basket weekly to decide what you are keeping vs tossing! I know some would say don’t make a pile to deal with it later at all and I get that! But I personally don’t like to make that decision the day papers come home, so it’s nice to have a spot for them to be off the counter until I go through them!

Realistically 99% are going in the recycling bin 🙈. I love to see his work and the things he brings home every day, but no way are we keeping it all. The special things - yes absolutely! Everything else 👋

Green paint colors I’ve used and love! Some I love so much I’ve even used twice 💚

Blue paint colors I love around my home, two I’ve used more than once because I love them so! Save this for the next time you want to pick a blue paint color 💙

Baskets in the kitchen to corral the paper clutter because clear counters = quieter mind 😮‍💨

The kitchen shelves are my make shift office and command center: school papers, mail that needs attention, my planner, laptop… all go in the baskets when I’m not using them! The thing about baskets is they make the clutter visually less while still being easy to reach for! Now I’m just wondering why did I wait so long to do this!?

Paint the wall vent covers to match the walls 👏 a low cost and easy way to make them blend in a *little* more.

We have a home that was built in the 80s with multiple wall air returns near the ceiling in every room… and they are a bit of an eyesore to me 🙃. I could replace them with something prettier or cover them in a different way, but for now painting them to match the wall color is an easy fix!!

A cute spooky porch 👻🎃

Spooky Halloween decor isn’t really my thing, but my kids *love* it. A cute spooky porch feels like I’m dipping my toes in and love how it turned out!!

I think I’m getting into it because I could easily be convinced to get a skeleton to sit on the bench…

Tackling all the things on my to do list I’ve been putting off ✔️ one day at a time, one thing at a time. They’re all things around my house and all things that will help make our home a little bit better. Mostly easy things… I just need to make the time to do them.

Starting out extra easy today and one I knew I could finish in an hour: deep cleaning our living room rug 🧼. With 2 kids and a dog it gets gross. This was an easy one, it just takes time (and time for it to dry).

I have a running list of “to dos” I’ve been wanting to do, but the thing is they don’t actually get done if I don’t add them to my daily calendar 🤔😆. It took me way too long to realize this about myself - but if I don’t add something to a specific day of the week on my calendar it will more than likely not happen. Feels like common sense, right? Yes. Well in case you also need a nudge… it is so helpful to take your to do list and actually assign a day to do each specific item instead of blindly adding more to it thinking “I’ll remember to do it” 😅

If you have a 2 story home and little kids — this home hack has saved my sanity so many times! Especially during the toddler years!!! I keep a drawer in our main floor living room with spare clothes for my kids. No more running up and down the steps multiple times a day (although that is good for me I know😅). Needing to run back up the steps one more time before leaving the house is not ideal!!

Big fan of making your home work for you and keeping things where they make the most sense in your home for your family, not where they are “supposed” to go!!

It’s always very special to me to keep heirloom pieces and furniture in our family 🫶🏻

A sheet music holder (it was from my mother-in-laws grandparents and that’s what she said it was used for!) now used in our dining room as the cabinet for our favorite games 🎲 . A bonus is that putting it in our dining room has inspired us to play more games after dinner, which I would love to be a tradition we continue.

Big fan of cutting and reshaping faux stems so they look a little less faux. A pair of wire cutters do the trick to cut through the wire stems!

I always prefer real flowers or stems… and I still have a healthy dose of faux flowers in my house right now because it’s one less thing to remember 😅

I know I need to keep seasonal decor simple or I end up wanting to take it all down way sooner than I planned because it adds to the visual overestimation and my brain needs calm 😆

I keep a few more Halloween-y decorations and wait to put them out until a week or 2 beforehand — my kids love the seasonal decor and I gotta make it a little fun, and also know my limits 😅

Courtyard Blue by Behr I love you so 💙. A beautiful mid blue that gives some moody factor, while not being too dark!

Our dining room is north facing with a covered porch in front of the window and I have learned (after repainting it many times!!!) to lean into a deeper color that’s not *too* dark.
