𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 🦜

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟯𝟱𝟬 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲? From Cockatiels and Parakeets to Macaws and African Greys, each one is unique, intelligent, and full of personality.

But parrots are also 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀, so owning one should never be a quick decision. 𝗔 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 before bringing a parrot into your home. 🦜

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 - some, like the African Grey, are said to have the 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝟱-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱. Because of this, they can 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 if they become bored or under-stimulated, which 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿, 𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴.

Keeping parrots happy and healthy means 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆. This can include toys, activities, training, and quality time with their humans. 🪢

They also need a 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗴𝗲 with plenty of room to fully stretch their wings, alongside 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟰-𝟲 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 🗣️

𝗔 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘁 is just as important. Parrots should be fed a 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘁 of high-quality pellets, along with a variety of fresh, washed fruit and vegetables. 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝘂𝘁𝘀 can also be offered in moderation as treats or rewards. 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀, so always research carefully or call in and speak to our animal experts if you’re unsure what’s best for your feathered friend. 🥜🍎🥦
