Look what I found out in the wild ☺️ Lovely to find my new book 💜The Fool’s Leap: tarot as creative companion💜hanging out with some rather magical book pals in @waterstones.argylestreet in Glasgow. Just out with @sarabandbooks and illustrated by @thecommonpeople — it’s the perfect pocket-sized wild companion for writers, artists and the creatively curious 💜 #thefoolsleap #newbook #creativepath #gift #creativity by @thecommonpeople
Happy book birthday to my new book 💜⭐ The Fool’s Leap: tarot as creative companion 💜⭐ Out today with @sarabandbooks as part of their gorgeous In The Moment Series. I’ve been using tarot as part of my creative practice for nearly 30 years. In The Fool’s Leap, I’ve gathered together some of that insight and journey, both as a reader of tarot and as a writer, artist, and wild woman on the path 💖 Alongside this, I’ve had the joy of collaborating with @thecommonpeople who has created 35 gorgeous BW illustrations to accompany (there will be a chance to see more of these beautiful illustrations as we will be releasing a full deck to go with the book — what this space 💜) Offering up a pocketful of wildness for anyone who might need it, The Fool’s Leap is written as a companion for the journey, whether you are just starting out on your creative path or have been travelling for a while. I hope you enjoy it and that it gives you sustenance along the way. Thank you to the very special @bernadetterussell @catherinesimpsonwriter @jennyaknight @rebeccambeattie and all the other amazing wild writers who have offered their support and encouragement 💜 Thank you also to Caro @portyliterary and all at @sarabandbooks for supporting this book, and a big thank you to @pollyrowena @samreadbookseller for helping to launch it on 1st November 💜 and a huge thank you to everyone who has wished it well today, and who have bought it and helped it on its way. It takes a village and I am grateful for each and every one of you 💜 #thefoolsleap #newbook #tarot #creativity #creativejourney by @thecommonpeople
Not long now until my new book is out 💜 Drawing on over three decades of working as a writer and art activist, and nearly as long as that using tarot as part of my daily creative practice, it is offered as a wild woman in your pocket - to act as companion for the journey. With personal insight and interpretations, reflective prompts, and bespoke tarot spreads for creatives, it is designed to be like the very best of friends. You know, the one who will champion you always, sit with you in silence, and give you a long, hard Paddington stare when you are bullshitting yourself. Wherever you are on your journey, The Fool’s Leap is there to keep you company and to help you grow a sustainable and nourishing creative life. It is also designed to help anyone who is working on a creative project, wanting to get started, feeling a bit stuck, or just wanting a bit of inspiration along the way. Written for writers, artists, creatives and the curious-minded, you don’t need to be a tarot user or believe in anything esoteric to use it. You also don’t have to have the perfect deck or even a set of cards at all. You just need to want to get down and create something in your life 💖 So…who wants to come on an adventure with me? Ready, steady, and…leap! ⭐💜⭐ Gorgeously illustrated by @thecommonpeople and published as part of the In The Moment pocket paperback series by @sarabandbooks it comes out on 22nd October and is available for that all important pre-order now 💜 💜💜 And if you are curious to delve deeper, follow me for updates of exciting things to come… #thefoolsleap #tarot #creativejourney #creativepractice #writinglife by @thecommonpeople
And it’s a wrap! Thank you to the wonderful Debbie @fern_bookshop for inviting me to be the very first (of many) visiting authors in your gorgeous bookshop, and for creating and curating such a nurturing and beautiful book garden. I am so glad that you followed your dream and listened to the wise words of “why not?” 💖 Thank you also to the lovely @journojan for a warm and interesting conversation - so glad to have had the opportunity to connect this way. And thank you to all the wild and wonderful people who came along gave the generous gift of your time to listen to my story and take it into your hearts and shelves. It’s been an absolute joy to meet with all the amazing independent booksellers (the beating heart and heroes of the book world) and readers who have loved and shared The Apothecary by the Sea — what a gift to receive from you all! And of course, a huge thank you to @thecommonpeople — my hero💖 — for creating such beautiful artwork alongside my words, and for driving 1588 miles to make it possible for me to share them all the way from Orkney to Devon. You are a star! ⭐ And now, homeward bound — and after being on the road since July, I’m ready to go home! Onward to Orkney! 🐝💖🌸#TheApothecaryByTheSea #booktour #independentbooksellers #orkney #authorconversation by @thecommonpeople
A gorgeous visit to the wonderful @theweebookshop_dollar and an evening of thoughtful conversation, laughter, connection, and potion brewing 🌸 Thank you to Carly & all who made this night possible. It was a joy to share stories from The Apothecary by the Sea with such wonderful people 💖 And we even managed to squeeze in a little birthday treat for me for another year around the sun - wandering through the amazing @drummond_castle_gardens and hiding away in our secret den in the woods at Culdees Castle 💖😊 Last day of September, and last event of the tour tonight as we head north to @fern_bookshop 🐝 Hope to see you there! #theapothecarybythesea #booktour #orkney #independentbookshops #authortalks by @thecommonpeople
So special to spend an evening at the wonderful @bookendsbookshopcarlisle sharing conversation, stories and beautiful illustrations from The Apothecary by the Sea, and All My Wild Mothers, with Lucy, Steve, and so many old friends and new. It was such a gift to share this special time with you 💖Orkney is my home now but Cumbria will always be too - our gardens grown in both. Thank you to everyone who came along to share the evening, and to the wonderful team @bookendsbookshopcarlisle 💖☺️🐝 And for anyone who hasn’t visited this incredible bookshop, and the equally lovely Cakes and Ale Cafe at the back, I heartily recommend. It’s got a fascinating history too! Sorry for the lack of photos too — we got lost in conversation and forgot to take any! Next stop @theweebookshop_dollar tonight 29th Sept 7.30pm 🐝🌸 Hope to see you there 💖💖 #theapothecarybythesea #booktour #wildflowers #independentbookshops #orkney by @thecommonpeople
What a wonderful day in a very sunny Dorset. Thank you to the lovely Karen and all the team @foldedorset for creating such a nurturing space for wild words to grow and thrive 🐝 and for such a gentle welcome and gorgeous conversation shared with an equally lovely audience @thegrosvenorarmsshaftesbury 💖 Of course, I did a little exploring when there, discovering a few hidden creatures, steep streets, and of course, an apothecary garden @shaftesburyabbey 🌱🌸💖 Onwards again today, with a little research detour. Next book tour stop will be @bookendsbookshopcarlisle where I hope you will join us at the fabulous Cakes and Ale Cafe for more wild conversation 27/9/26 🌸🌱🐝 #theapothecarybythesea #booktour #shaftesburydorset #garden #orkney by @thecommonpeople

This week Fiona was enamoured with @beewyld’s beautifully written memoir ‘The Apothecary by the Sea’ 🌼 with illustrations by Adam Clarke (@thecommonpeople)  Keep watching until the end to see one of the parts that made Fiona cry. 🥹 With the years of early motherhood and elderly caregiving over, Victoria faces a time of change. She and her husband decide to take a leap, moving five hundred miles north of everything they know, to the northern Scottish islands of Orkney, where the winters are long and the summer a perpetual light. Here she crafts teas, tinctures and balms inspired by the surrounding soil and seas... If you like reading books that truly add meaning to your life this one is for you. Also for fans of @jaclyncrupi @hannah_moloney @hollygoeslightly 🌱 @elliottandthompson by @thecommonpeople

THE WIZARD KEEN MINECRAFT CHALLENGE IS LIVE Our brand new Minecraft filmmaking category is officially open for entries. And it is being judged by Adam Clarke, better known to millions of Minecraft players as Wizard Keen. Adam has spent more than a decade proving that Minecraft is not just a game. It is a place to make films, build worlds and tell stories. He is an official Minecraft Marketplace creator whose work has been downloaded more than 13 million times, with collaborations including the Royal Shakespeare Company, Tate and Disney. (But equally feel free to show off the biggest castle or expensive equipment, we get it....... we do!!!!!) The challenge is open worldwide and to all ages. Entry is completely free for anyone aged 25 or under using the code WizardKeen. A small entry fee applies to anyone aged 26 and over.
