POSTS STORIES REELS

IIt’s been a pretty hectic summer @thedropout.bike. As we enter the last quarter of the year, we’d like to thank all the riders who continue to put their trust in us.

Whether it’s stopping by for a simple flat fix, a full build curation, or just to say hi, we’re grateful our little shop resonates with so many riders.

For us, it’s simple: ride the bike you love and know that we’ll be here to support your journey, whatever it might look like.

We’ll (finally) be catching up on some posts 😅 and had to start with Mich’s @velo_orange Polyvalent. Not only because she called asking, “Are y’all ever gonna post that damn bike?” 🤣 but because this frame-up build so quickly became a standout favorite in the shop.

Curations like these really are a labor of love. They require a tremendous amount of care in understanding a rider’s ideas, what they want from the bike, and then bringing all of those pieces together into a cohesive build. But through that process, we always seem to land right where we’re supposed to, and this build was no exception.

Enjoy your new bike day, Mich! 💙

When a build like this comes across our bench, we’re reminded to pause and appreciate everything we’ve been entrusted to bring together.

17 years of @mosaiccycles craftsmanship.
19 years of @envecomposites refinement.
50 years of @chriskingbuzz engineering.
105 years of @shimanoroad innovation.

Decades of obsession, all converging into a single machine for a single rider.

Our role is small but meaningful: honor the work that came before us and breathe life into someone’s dream build.

Grateful for the opportunity to deliver.

Enjoy your #newbikeday, G$!

We had the pleasure of building and delivering the new CAAD14 this week.

If you’re interested in a particularly unhelpful, broadly useless review of Cannondale’s new bike, you can sign up for the return of Spoke[n] — cycling’s least trusted news source. Link in bio.

Honestly, we recommend you don’t.

But if you do, you’ll find a few extra shots of the bike, some cool details and updates explained, and maybe you can help us understand why JP would describe the new CAAD14 as “like jumping into a pool naked for the first time.”

We’re still working on that one.

Just out of the box.

Even better in person than on paper. Looking forward to bringing this one together.

Is there any better way to ride a California sunset?🌅

We were lucky enough to meet another incredibly talented @hotwheelsofficial designer, @antonio.gaido - who instantly fell in love with the @singularcycles build we finished for mutual friend @andresandrieu.

Drawing inspiration from that project (and a few pieces of iconic @porsche racing hardware), we worked through what kind of build would best suit Antonio’s needs. We ended up here - and “here” turned out to be a very good place to be. Easily one of the team’s favorite Singular builds to date.

The Build:
@bikethomson Flat Bar @singularcycles Kite Ti MK2
@singularcycles Laing Ti Stem + Ti Seatpost
@chrisking / @robertaxleproject Matte Turquoise Thru Axles paired to Red King CenterLock Rings
@chriskingbuzz Headset, Seatpost Collar + BB
@shimanogravel XT Group
@boydcycling CCC 650B Gravel Wheelset on @conti_bicycle Race Kings
@ron_kingcage Ti Bottle Cages
@odigrips + @brooksengland Saddle

Enjoy your #NewBikeDay, Antonio 💙❤️

Quick photo dump from last weekend’s Catalina Kickback 🌴
……
As the final photo makes clear, this trip has been in the works since 2023 - a reminder to never date your merch 😆

Seven of us left the city for Catalina to celebrate the shop’s five-year milestone serving our local cycling community.

Day one: Little Harbor → Avalon → Airport in the Sky for lunch.
Day two: an absolutely stunning ride from Little Harbor to Parson’s Landing - unreal coastal views and flowy, well-packed dirt all the way from Two Harbors until just before Parson’s, where things do get a little technical 😅

An incredible weekend of memories with both longtime and new friends.

When we got back Monday, we learned that three riders were struck in a hit-and-run crash in Huntington Beach - one fatally, two seriously injured. These are roads we’ve all ridden and people we’ve shared miles with. While we were off on a little dirt adventure, the Williams family was receiving the most devastating news imaginable.

It’s hard to know what to do with that. Saying “be careful out there” feels hollow and places responsibility where it doesn’t belong.

So instead - be grateful.
Grateful for weekends on Catalina with your friends.
Grateful for every ride that ends safely.
Grateful for those waiting for you at home.

Life is fragile and fleeting.

If you can, please consider donating to the GoFundMe supporting the Williams family 💛 [Link in Bio] by @thedropout.bike

I met Greg almost 8 years ago when I worked at another bicycle shop. We were closed at the time and I was inside working on my personal bike. A knock at the door caught my attention and there he was with who I thought was his daughter, maybe 10 years old. Kid in one hand, kids-bike in the other and a clear flat tire. When I got to the door he apologized for the bother but everyone else was closed and his niece really wanted to ride. Of course I let them in and changed the flat. They left happy and I didn’t think much more of it.

But Greg did. That small act of kindness stuck with him. Since then, he’s followed me faithfully to every shop I’ve worked at—and finally to The DropOut - driving past six other shops just to support us.

Last week, we had the honor of building his dream bike: a @timecycling Alpe d’Huez Disc in Gloss Carbon, dressed in Shimano Ultegra Di2, a Vision/FSA build kit, and the unmistakable touches of that Chris King Buzz 🐝

Plain black? Hardly. This bike is anything but - and it rides like an absolute dream.

Enjoy your #newbikeday, Greg 🖤

When the markets get wild, there’s only one safe place to park that loot — 🤩 GOLD 🤩

We were stoked to help our longtime friend Nate rebalance his portfolio 😆 with this absolutely stunning @timecycling Alpe d’Huez build.

Up front, the new @ridededa Elementi SuperZero RS bars and Superbox stem keep things clean and fast. Out back, the @ffwdwheels RYOTs laced to DT Swiss 240? Let’s just say you can hear them coming from yesterday 🔊

Happy New Bike Day, Nate 😘

We’re so back🚀 | Thank you to our amazing local bike shop sponsor @thedropout.bike who led and supported an amazing club ride today!

Did you miss it? Don’t worry, we’re planning for more soon! Stay posted and tell your friends! by @thedropout.bike

When the world’s sexiest @hotwheelsofficial designer @andresandrieu came to us for a new Ti build, the @singularcycles Kite caught his eye—and it’s easy to see why.

We kept it clean: raw titanium and black with just the right pop from a @chriskingbuzz headset, BB, and seatpost collar. Ti seatpost and stem from @singularcycles. 700c @hunt.road wheels wrapped in @ultradynamico rubber.

Driven by a @sramroad Rival eTap group, topped with a classic Brooks saddle, @ron_kingcage Ti cages, @timepedals, and our forever favorite @burghcycling tape.

Fast. Timeless. Pure heat.

Enjoy your #NewBikeDay, Andres 💙
