How much do you really know about audiology? 👀

I can confirm that we do more than put headphones on people and ask them to press a button 🙈

Happy Audiology Awareness Month! 💚

Final part of the Deaf Awareness series! 👋🏽🤟🏽

Plot twist: sign language isn’t universal! 😂
Just like spoken languages, different countries have different sign languages, signs and grammar.

So… ASL ≠ SASL ≠ every sign language ever. 👀

And that’s a wrap! Thank you for tuning into this series. Stay tuned for more videos 🤟🏽

Deaf vs deaf vs HoH 🤟🏽

Same umbrella, different experiences! 🦻🏽

Fun fact: Hearing aids and cochlear implants are NOT the same thing ✨

One amplifies and processes sound, the other uses electrical stimulation to provide access to sound 🦻🏽

Different technology, different indications, different experiences 😁

Hearing aids are NOT glasses for your ears 👀

They can help you access sound, but they don’t simply switch your hearing back to “normal.”

In this episode we’re unpacking the basics of hearing aids and what they can do.

Part 4 of my Deaf Awareness Month series:

Learning the ABCs… but make it SASL! 🤟🏽👋🏽

A little introduction to South African Sign Language because communication comes in more than one form. 🫶🏽

How many letters do you already know? 👀😂

*please note I accidentally signed the wrong letter for D but you’ll get the gist of most of the letters, which are correct*

Part 3 of Deaf Awareness Month:

A few small changes can make communication MUCH easier for someone with hearing loss 🤟🏽

Face them, reduce background noise, keep your mouth visible & rephrase instead of shouting😂

And yes… sometimes the background noise is the problem

No hate to amapiano 😜

Deaf Awareness Series: Part 2

Deafness doesn’t come with a list of things you can’t do. 😂

Different people, different experiences, different ways of communicating.

DEAF AWARENESS MONTH IS HERE! 🦻🏽🤟🏽

Let’s start with something simple: deafness does NOT look the same for everyone.

There’s a whole lot more to deafness than “can you hear or not?” 👀

This month, I’m breaking down the myths, misconceptions, communication barriers, hearing technology, Deaf culture and the things we really need to be talking about.

Consider this your sign to learn something new this September 🥳

Follow along for the rest of the series!

Audiologists need to have fun too! 😂👂🏽

Found this little gem in Benoni and honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. So many coats, jackets, vintage finds and random goodies to browse through. 🧥✨
