POSTS STORIES REELS

We’ve kept this part of our story pretty quiet… but we realized we never really introduced ourselves properly.

We’re Ryan & Fabio….aka The Fabryk
Two guys who met at a Berlin club and somehow turned our messy travel adventures into this little corner of the internet.

Truth is, we weren’t always confident sharing ourselves online…and we still aren’t at all. That is why we hid behind our blog so long before even considering social media. But we’ve met a lot of wonderful people on here and even some of you in person. Even with the occasional rogue comments, our experience on here has been one of positivity.

Here we are, figuring it out as we go…and sharing the chaos, joy, and realness of travel with you.

💙 Thanks for being here…. it means more than we can put into words.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop them. Otherwise, it’s your turn, where is your dream destination? by @thefabryk

What is a train like in Morocco?!

We can’t speak for all rail travel in the country, but the high speed ONCF Al Boraq bullet train from Tangier to Casablanca was great :)

The train goes up to 320 km/h (200 mph) which is impressive comparing it to the Amtrak’s Acela’s max 257 km/h (160 mph), the fastest US passenger train (sorryy, we always have to make this comparison 😜).

You have lots of space to work, sleep, watch the scenic and varied landscapes of Northern Morocco… and there’s a dining cart, too!

Favorite train journey? Put them in the comments.

At first, Munich was a city we would just stay a night or two on the way down from Berlin to Venice via train (or vice versa)… but of course it is way more than a transit city and we’ve started to try and spend more time there and see what it is about.

It has satiatingly savory Bavarian food, stunning architecture, and on top of it, a fabulous queer scene that is friendly and welcoming :). Even the traffic lights are giving off same love 💓.

We did make a free gay Munich guide, so comment GUIDE and we will send that right over, but also follow queercityguide as their posts go into niche events happening in Munich and fascinating historical perspectives of LGBTQ+ life in Munich (we love their visual designs too 🤗).

As halloween approaches, we wanted to revisit an Italian city with a centuries old fascination with witches.

In Campania, there’s a charming place called Benevento. Back in the Middle Ages, local lore says witches gathered along the Sabato River for dark pagan rituals, hanging viper skins from a sacred walnut tree to invoke ancient spirits.

This sparked centuries of paranoia and witch trials across Italy, making Benevento legendary as the ultimate city of janare… the Italian witches.

Today, you’ll find Benevento’s witch history scattered across the city, in the form of graffiti, Janua - Museo delle Streghe (the museum of witches), and liquore Strega… a very intense yellow, herbal concoction that we even found in gelato form!

Had a cheeky weekend in Bologna a while back and it absolutely delivered.

We managed to cover way more ground than fits in a single post, so if you want the full breakdown, comment GUIDE and we will send you our complete Bologna itinerary and gay Bologna guide.

📍 Parco della Montagnola

First things first... when you arrive in Bologna on a Friday evening, what is the very first thing you do? Swipe to find out.

You go straight for the food, obvs. In Bologna, lasagna is traditionally green because spinach is kneaded right into the pasta dough. And that classic meat sauce?!? It is always ragù, served over flat tagliatelle so the sauce actually clings to the pasta, never spaghetti.

📍 Portici di Bologna

Bologna has over 38 kilometers of these arched porticoes running through the city center. We realized pretty quickly that this has to be the ultimate Italian city for rainy days since you can walk almost anywhere without ever needing an umbrella.

📍 Piazza del Nettuno

Right next to Piazza Maggiore, there is this famous optical illusion built into the Fountain of Neptune. Giambologna originally wanted to give Neptune a larger manhood, but the Church put their foot down. So he cleverly sculpted the statue’s thumb and hand position so that when you stand on a specific black tile behind it, it looks... well, a bit suggestive.

We don’t mind the views.

📍 Finestrella di Via Piella

Peeking through this little wooden window to see the hidden canal is super touristy, but it is right in the center and takes all of two minutes to check out, so it is definitely worth a quick stop.

We took a pasta-making class with @nearby_italy to learn how real tortellini is made. Being a sfoglina or sfoglino, the master pasta makers, is a serious art form in Emilia-Romagna, and trust us, rolling out that dough paper-thin by hand is so much harder than it looks.

📍 Piazza di Porta Ravegnana

As part of our tour with @nearby_italy, we got to reap the rewards of our labor with a proper tortellini tasting right by the towers, paired with a glass of crisp local Pignoletto wine.

So… what is a milk bar?

Just one of our favorite types of eateries whenever we head over to Poland 🇵🇱.

These canteen-style spots (bar mleczny) originated over a century ago and became legendary during the communist era as state-subsidized canteens. Named for their original focus on cheap dairy, grain, and egg dishes when meat was scarce, many are still government-subsidized today to keep traditional Polish food affordable for everyone.

Expect nostalgic comfort food like pierogi, barszcz, and kotlet schabowy (schnitzel). While Poland’s growing economy means prices aren’t quite the dirt-cheap steal of the past, they’re still vastly cheaper than standard restaurants.

A few quick tips for your visit:
- Menus can be tricky: Menus are usually wall-mounted in Polish only… just keep Google Lens handy and go in with an open mind.
- Hours: Search ‘bar mleczny’ on Google Maps, but check times closely! Most are weekday-only and close early (around 4:00 or 5:00 PM), shutting down once the food runs out.
- Etiquette: Order at the counter, get ready for wonderfully direct, no-nonsense service, and always clear your own tray when you’re done.

When we were staying in Batumi, Georgia back in 2024 we did a little side quest with some bikes we picked up off of the board walk. At only around 12ish kilometers to the Turkish border, we had to take up the opportunity.

While it wasn’t the most cycle friendly route there, and trucks were rampant, the scenes of the Black Sea and the mountains ahead made it a bit more worth it.

We hit up a beach on the way back and decided to get off the road thanks to a Wikiloc bike route entry from 2019. Things turned grim quickly as we biked across bridges with holes and before we knew it we were biking next to Georgia’s largest landfill. Needless to say our bikes got very muddy or sludgy…

No silver lining to this story, just a fun little adventure and a lesson not to trust everything you read online 💓

Little date afternoon and being a tourist in our own city.

We love a good top-of-the-tower visit and this here is the Panoramapunkt (@panoramapunkt) in Kollhoff Tower in Berlin. To be fair, we hadn’t heard about this place before just a few days ago, even though Ryan has been in and out of the city since 2018 😅.

103 meters tall and with the fastest elevator in Europe, your whisked up to the top of the tower in around 20ish seconds.

We’d done the TV tower a few years ago. This place certainly rivals the views you are going to get, and is perfff for sunset, but you do feel a bit caged in.

Make sure you are not like us and come on a day the cafe at the top is open so you can get your necessary daily dose of Kaffee und Küchen. We just about snuck into the private party there, but stopped ourselves in the end.

That time back in the start of 2023… we had just arrived in Cape Town from Germany, picked up a rental car (drove on the left for the first time) and left for an absolute adventure. We had actually just launched our blog and this was the start of our full-time travel adventure that would last quite a few years.

We didn’t know it yet, but the Garden Route was about to teach us a lot. South Africa is a place of beautiful contrasts. While the landscape often feels quiet, wide, and peaceful, it hits you with an incredible rush of colors, flavors, and unforgettable feelings.

From falling in love with Stellenbosch wines (okay not exactly on the Garden Route, but a nice place to stop beforehand) and waking up to rhinos and buffalos, to a very thick nature trek in Wilderness and mastering the art of the South African braai... every single kilometer left a mark on us.

If you’re dreaming of mapping out your own road trip here, we put together a realistic, honest guide with our exact route, where we stayed, and the spots you can’t miss (and can miss).

Write “guide” in the comments and we will send you our complete guide!
Have you ever road-tripped through South Africa? Which slide is your vibe? 👇

We came for a week and accidentally stayed for over a month.

Oaxaca has this quiet way of completely slowing you down, even to those who try to fight it…. from slow strolling around and admiring the murals of Jalatlaco and ancient ruins in the mountains to raw, sun drenched days on the Pacific coast.

For the full cinematic journey, head to our YouTube!

We had just finished a 2-day adventure on the Sahara, were caked with sand in every possible crevice, and were more than a little destroyed, when Palais Hassoun came into view and pampered us back to life.

Set on the outskirts of Marrakesh, it took us two entire days to even leave the premises and go and explore the city, as we were fully satisfied with just wandering the lush grounds, splashing around in the pool, eating the best moroccan meatball tagine we have ever had (or potentially the only one we’ve ever had), observing the art that Swiss-owner, Alain, had picked up from all corners of the world, and just lazing in our bed.

Every room is uniquely themed and designed and we may have peeked our heads in all of them 😘. On top of it, in a country not exactly known for inclusivity, we felt completely safe and at ease here.

If you want to forget about the world and enter a complete fantasy universe instead, @palais_hassoun is a place worth checking out nearby Marrakesh.

What most tourists miss on their first trip to Brussels…

Most tourists stay in the center, but Saint-Gilles and Schaerbeek hold some of Europe’s finest turn-of-the-century architecture.

While inspired by Art Nouveau, these streets feature a full mix of eclectic facades…. and with major restoration works freshly completed, you can finally see them in full detail (if you can get a break from the Brussels rain OC! We couldn’t the last time).

📍 Saint-Gilles: Home to Horta Museum & quiet residential gems.

📍 Schaerbeek: Look for detailed sgraffito murals along Avenue Louis Bertrand.

Save this for your next trip to Brussels 🇧🇪
