Oh hi! ❤️➕🧠

If you’re new here, curious or just after a reminder of what Faith Filled Therapy is all about, then this is a good place to start.

I’m hand on heart, glad that you’re here.
TYPOS AND ALL 🤦🏼‍♀️

Also…why not say hello below? I’d love to hear where you are based and what part of your own journey brought you to this page?

Sometimes something new can feel unsettling, even when it is something we have hoped for.

I find such hope in the way Scripture keeps returning to newness. A new heart. New mercies. A new creation. God’s story makes room for what we have not yet experienced.

That does not mean pretending the past never happened, or expecting ourselves to feel comfortable with change straight away. We can honour what we have lived through and still leave room for a different future.

Perhaps there is a gentle invitation here: to take the next small step without needing to know the whole story.

The past matters. But it does not get the final word.

God who is gentle and kind,

When my system is fast, and my mind is loud,
would You meet me in the middle of it.

Jesus, please co-regulate me.

Lend me your calm when I cannot access my own.

Be my refuge and strength, not as a concept, but as a felt reality in my chest.

Thank You that You are not overwhelmed by what overwhelms me.

Thank You that You are steady when I am not.

Thank You that my alarm system does not alarm You.

When everything in me wants to rush,
remind me that You are unhurried.

When my thoughts spiral,
anchor me in what is true.

When my body feels on edge.

Let Your presence become the safest place in the room.

You are my refuge and strength, not in theory,
but in this very moment.

Shepherd me back into steadiness.

Expand my capacity gently.

Help me receive Your calm instead of striving for it.

You are here.

I am held.

And I do not have to outrun this moment.

Amen

Not easy, I know. Takes practice-definitely. Harder in the short term than simply following the familiar thought, yes absolutely. But I am convinced that this brings more transformation than many other ‘quick fixes’ or ‘healing hacks’.

Every time you notice a thought be it an intrusive thought or not, you create a little bit of space to choose differently, and every time you challenge that thought and speak truth to it instead you are aligning with Scripture and a God breathed blueprint for managing our minds.

Isaiah 26:3 (NIV)
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Proverbs 4:23 (NCV)
Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.

This is good news! 🥳 by @thefaithfilledtherapist

Biblical meditation is not the absence of thought.
it is the REGULAR rehearsal of truth.

I love that we can come to Jesus as we are. We do not have to calm ourselves down, tidy up our emotions or find the right words before we come close.

He meets us with compassion and invites us into relationship with Him.

And if we still feel unsettled, that does not mean we have failed at faith. We can bring that to Him too.

Someone to know. Someone to remain with. Someone who has promised never to leave us.
