With a $2,500 budget for rent, Nashville country music duo Keenan and Grace Adele Wade quickly realized that finding a two-bedroom would be impossible to find in San Francisco. Still, the couple, who form the music duo the Farmer & Adele, were set on moving out west with their 4-year-old daughter. After three months of searching, they found a 550-square-foot, rent-controlled one-bedroom in the Inner Sunset. The couple would be signing up to sleep in the living room and tiptoe through their daughter’s bedroom to get to the only bathroom. It had no dishwasher and a coin-operated laundry room in the common area. It was also slightly over budget, at $2,700 per month. But by compromising on some of their criteria, they were able to settle into a family-friendly neighborhood they love just in time to see their friends playing this weekend at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in Golden Gate Park. Happy Halloween, cowpokes! 🎃 We celebrate all year long because nobody does Halloween quite like singing cowboys and cowgirls. And a whole lot of the songs we love to sing were recorded by folks who’ve long since ridden off into the sunset. BWAAAAHAAAAHAAAAA! 🤠👻 Our last show of the year is Saturday, November 7, at ploughandstars in San Francisco. Come help us raise these songs from the dead! #HappyHalloween #WesternSwing #VintageCountry #LiveMusic #sanfrancisco by @thefarmerandadelemusic
“I long for a trip I don't need no grip, I'm taking one more ride, way out there in the prairie air, I guess it's in my hide.” Who knew the Sons of the Pioneers could put into words something we still need today? A ride across the Western plains, breathing in that prairie air and remembering just how big and beautiful the world can be. Not everyone has the means to travel out West, and that's part of why we do what we do. Through our Saddle Up Sessions, we hope to bring a little of that Western spirit into your home, spark your curiosity, and maybe even inspire you to look up an ocotillo or a saguaro. Here's “One More Ride” by Bob Nolan. One take. No overdubs. Just four cowpokes playing the music we love, free for everyone to watch on YouTube. Link in bio! If you love the Sons of the Pioneers, Marty Robbins, Marty Stuart, Johnny Cash, and Bob Wills, saddle up and come along for the ride. Help us keep traditional country music, Western swing, and old-school yodeling alive! No pictures from last night’s epic night of country-western swing at @thedeluxesf, but Grace Adele managed to snap a few of three cowpokes plotting a two-step takeover of San Francisco. 🤠 What did y’all get into on Wednesday night? #SanFrancisco #WesternSwing #CountryMusic #TwoStep #LiveMusic by @thefarmerandadelemusic
