Many people have reached out to ask how they can help after the 1000 year flood caused by Hurricane Helene devastated Asheville. I am SO grateful for every single one of you. It just didn’t feel right to ask anyone to just help me, when so many people here have been impacted even more than I have, so I launched this Kickstarter.

The River arts district was home to 300+ artists. I had about a dozen original paintings in Marquee, a gallery there, that were lost to the flood. But I was lucky. Many of these artists lost studios, equipment, or full collections of work, and like me, many lost their primary source of income for an unforeseen amount of time.

If you want to help, please like, share, and comment on this reel! And if you want to and are able to contribute, just comment AVL below for a link! Link to Kickstarter also in my bio ☺️💕🙏

The Flood Collection: Original Artwork Lost to Hurricane Helene

Thanksgiving is a day we celebrate the things in our life that we are thankful for. I am thankful for many things including this book. This is not just any book but a book that showcases artists who were directly affected by Hurricane Helene. This storm devastated my community last fall and you can still see the effects of it today. One of the hardest hit areas in Asheville was the River Arts District (RAD). All of the studios and galleries in the world renowned RAD were damaged or completely destroyed. One of those studios was @foundationstudios_avl where I had my art studio that I shared with @cjp3theillustrator .

After the waters resided and we were allowed access to our studio we immediately went to see if we could recover anything. Thanks to many wonderful volunteers we were able to find the majority of our artwork, although covered in mud and other nasty stuff, I recovered most of my paintings. However, all my supplies were destroyed, my tables and chairs heavily damaged, and illustrations almost unrecognizable. But I was happy to find as much of my stuff as we did.

Not long after internet was restored in our area I logged onto my social media accounts to check on everyone and saw that someone was starting a project to help artists who were impacted by Helene. That person was @wildbrushworks Erica. I am thankful to Erica for accepting me to be one of the artists chosen to be a part of this book but I'm also incredibly thankful that she gave me the opportunity to design and layout the book. Erica, thank you for being patient, compassionate, honest, and trusting me in helping bring this amazing book together. It took a while but I couldn't be more happy with the way it turned out.

I had been waiting a while to post about this book until the perfect time and I can't think of a better day than Thanksgiving to share about this incredible book.
