5 tips to sticking your nose strip right the first time.

1. Make sure your nose is clean and dry, remove any sweat, cream or dirt and dry it thoroughly.
2. Peel the backing tape of without touching the adhesive with your finger tips.
3. Position the strip in the middle of your nose but make sure it sits below the bonniest part of your nose so that the ends of the strip sit on your nostrils, not your cheek.
4. Press down the sides and hold for 5-10 sec.
5. Rub the sides to activate the adhesive.

Snoring in children is a red flag, even when they sleep a full eight hours.

So many parents tell me their child sleeps all night, yet still wakes up tired, cranky or struggling to focus. The question I always come back to is, what is the quality of that sleep?

Bedwetting, teeth grinding, dry lips and an elongated face can all be signs too. Parents often aren't told to look for them, so they get missed.

Dan Jones from GOAT told me that when they launched their kids' nasal strips, parents kept saying their child seemed like a different person. Better sleep can show up as better focus and behaviour during the day.

If any of these signs sound familiar, ask your speech pathologist, GP or ENT to check your child's airway.

Send this to the parent whose little one snores every night, and follow @winewithwitapodcast for more on sleep, breathing and communication 🤍

Mouth breathing in children doesn't always look like just snoring.

Dan Jones mouth breathed for years after breaking his nose several times in martial arts. Looking back, the signs were there from childhood: crowded teeth, a small jaw and a big tongue tie no one ever mentioned.

The first night he tried a nasal strip, he slept with his mouth closed for the first time in 15 years. He thought, if this can help me, it can help so many other people. That's why he started GOAT (Greatest Of All Tapes), and they now have a kids' range for children aged 5 and up.

With the families I work with, the signs are often quieter: dry or cracked lips, teeth grinding, bedwetting, waking up tired, and a little one who finds it hard to focus during the day. Better sleep often shows up as better learning and behaviour.

Before trying anything, ask your speech pathologist, GP or ENT to check your child's airway.

Send this to a parent whose little one sleeps with their mouth open, and follow @winewithwitapodcast if you're a parent or guardian of a child with additional needs 🤍
