Side Launch makes cocktails y’all 📢 Some new work hitting the world today. Brand strategy, brand design, illustration, photography, the whole nine yards. The Hour is Here 👀🕰️. From my basement and 2nd floor office to the world 📲 Slimmies are in and you can get misty with em at Costco + Lemon Berry Mist tallies at LCBO. For the chopped unc’s out there, Peach Honey Fizz tastes just like the old school Timmie’s peach drink. See if you can spot it! Apparently the squirrel I illustrated on the Lemon Berry Mist can looks like it’s eating pizza instead of an acorn, but I ain’t mad at it. My next post will be either my dog or wife ✌🏻 #packagingdesign #branddesign #productphotography by @thehourishere
Launched. I’m stoked to finally share the updated look and feel, and the beginnings of a new brand, today at @sidelaunch. Since the summer, thanks to a call from @side_launch_dan, I jumped ship and took on the role of VP of Brand, Creative & Marketing at Side Launch. I accepted Dan’s challenge to reignite the brand and adopt a masterbrand mentality, breathe new life into the packaging design systems, and develop a new addition to their already stellar product offering, which resulted in @sidelaunchspirits . Under the guidance and support of our CEO, Justin McKellar, Dan and I took a leap of faith, with the help of our small but mighty brand team, @laurynmclaren, @liviakarklins, and the result is something I’m truly proud of. This is a small taste of what we’ve started building and rolling out. A massive shout-out to @mattdoyledesign, who worked closely with me, Lauryn, and Liv to develop custom illustrations that bring to life the essence of each can and lifestyle we’re proud of in Collingwood and Ontario as a whole. Starting today, you will see a refreshed website that reintroduces you to our world-class, approachable beers and cocktails, our story, our new brand platform Built to Launch, our newest brand ambassador, professional Canadian snowboarder @mikeyciccarelli and more. In addition to our updated website, our new packaging continues to roll out in our brewery and taprooms in Collingwood and London, and will soon be available in LCBOs across Ontario. There’s lots more coming down the line, and I’m excited to celebrate with the crew in Collingwood & London in the coming weeks as we kick this thing into high gear. Hit me up and let’s grab a drink. My name is Steve, and I’m Built to Launch. #SideLaunch #BuiltToLaunch #BrandRelaunch #CraftBeer #OntarioBeer Teamwork by @thehourishere

Whitney 🥀❤️ Time has flown! Ten years of Light Upon The Lake and plenty more memories to be made. Whitney played The Concert Hall in Toronto, and we wouldn’t be caught dead missing this one. The band played tracks from their beloved debut record alongside favourites from throughout their catalogue. Check out the photos from the show. 📸 @thehourishere / Beyond The Watch #Whitney #TorontoConcerts #LiveMusic #ConcertPhotography #MusicPhotography by @thehourishere
Emma Ogier was here 🦅 Hot off co-signs from none other than Dominic Fike and Kevin Abstract, Houston-raised Emma Ogier opened for Whitney on the Toronto stop of the tour at The Concert Hall. A true rising star, Ogier delivered an imperfectly perfect, deeply intimate set, with stream-of-consciousness stage banter that was equal parts endearing and revealing. Somewhere between the stories and songs, she let the news slip about her upcoming debut studio album, Fly 1111, and gave us a little more incentive to hit the merch table, where burned CDs offered an early preview of what’s to come. Check out the photos and relive the night. 📸: @thehourishere / Beyond The Watch #EmmaOgier #TorontoConcerts #LiveMusic #ConcertPhotography #MusicPhotography by @thehourishere

AUGUST 🤳🏻 Editor-in-chief @thehourishere shares a few BTS snaps from his camera roll. Alexisonfire, birdwatching at RBC Amphitheatre, choosing which cameras to bring to shows, staying caffeinated, post-show beers and essential vinyl pickups in MTL. Here’s a look at what he’s been up to this past month. #concertphotographer #musicmedia #toronto #torontoevents #torontoconcerts by @thehourishere
“And that moment, it was ours.” 💥💙 Last night was a special one. @citizentheband brought Halcyon Blues to @thedanforthmusichall in Toronto, and we were there to capture it. For everyone who was there. And everyone who wishes they were. There’s a lot you probably don’t know about Beyond The Watch 👀🕰️ For the first time, we’re telling the story of how a little idea that started in 2011 became the independent music publication you see today. Swipe through → #TorontoMusic #CanadianMusic #IndependentMusic #MusicJournalism #ConcertPhotography It started with one guy (@thehourishere), a camera and a love of live music. Steve photographed his first concert in 2011 with absolutely no idea where it would lead. Fifteen years, thousands of photos and a whole lot of shows later, he’s still in the pit. So where did the name come from? A misheard line from a poem by Charles Bukowski eventually became the name of the publication. Over the years, Beyond The Watch became more than a name. It became a reminder that our time is finite, but our love for music doesn’t have to be. We’re music junkies chasing the feeling that exists somewhere between the first tick and the deadly last tock. It didn’t stay a one-person operation for long. Some have come and gone. Some are still here. But Steve holds down the fort as we all ebb and flow with the demands of running something small and independent, while pursuing our own creative passions. Go follow @thecreativeimbalance and @lambsheadstudio A lot has changed since 2011. The way we discover music. The way artists connect with fans. The way music media operates. But we’re still going to shows. Still taking photos. Still recommending albums. Still discovering bands we can’t stop talking about. And we still believe independent Canadian music media matters. So what does Beyond The Watch actually do? Concert photography. Album reviews. Interviews. Music news. And whatever else we’re interested in. We’re independent, which means we get to follow the music we care about, and tell the stories we think are worth telling. Pick up that zine. Hit up the blogs. Check out the photos. Buy more albums. Go to more shows. And if you want to support independent Canadian music media: Give us a follow 🖤 by @thehourishere
ALEXISONFIRE FOREVER 🖤 On a textbook summer night, hometown heroes Alexisonfire returned to Toronto’s @rbcamphitheatre to celebrate 20 years of Crisis. Holy hell, what a show! 🤘🏻 Here’s a few of our favourite moments from last night. Weezer Wednesday 💥👌 Earlier this summer, @weezer surprised fans by announcing The Gold Album alongside one of the season’s most unexpected collaborations: “We Might as Well Be Strangers” with @wednesday_gurl. For no other reason than it’s Wednesday (and because we can’t stop listening to the new single), we thought we’d dip into the archives and revisit the times we had the privilege of photographing both Weezer and Wednesday. Who remembers when Weezer took over Downsview Park with support from Metz back in 2013? Or when Wednesday lit up The Concert Hall with Unwound in 2024? Two different eras. Two memorable shows. Who’s been spinning “We Might as Well Be Strangers”? 📸: @thehourishere #Weezer #NewMusic #MusicLover #NowPlaying #TorontoConcerts by @thehourishere
