💪 4 drills to help increase shot speed, power, and overall shooting mechanics. Focus on generating force from the ground up while keeping your release smooth and controlled.

📝 Points of emphasis:

1️⃣ Feet planted shooting — focus on a quiet stick, strong hip rotation, and allowing your hands to follow through in sync with the rest of your body. Efficient mechanics create effortless power.

2️⃣ Top hand step downs — minimal steps, violent wrist snap, and driving through the shot while keeping your upper body connected to your lower half.

3️⃣ Bottom hand step downs — same concept as top hand shooting, but focus on snapping the bottom hand down toward your lead leg pocket to create leverage and whip through the release.

4️⃣ 180° 1→2 hand step downs — combine all 3 drills together. Starting turned away from the cage forces the body to generate torque while teaching the shooter to rotate, snap the wrists, and pull the stick down through the release path for maximum power.

🚨 Shot speed doesn’t come from muscling the ball. It comes from efficient mechanics, hip rotation, torque, and proper sequencing from the ground up.

WALLBALL WEDNESDAY 🥍🔥

💪 Breaking in my new Maverik Kimera and getting some extra touches in. Sometimes the best training sessions are the ones where you stop overthinking and just enjoy playing the game.

📝 Points of emphasis:

1️⃣ Have fun. The more you enjoy the process, the more likely you are to stay consistent and continue improving.

2️⃣ Don’t be afraid to experiment. Try throwing and catching from different angles and release points to expand your skill set.

3️⃣ Ignore the fear of looking flashy. While fundamentals matter, developing your hands, wrists, and stick skills will only make you a more creative and dangerous player on the field.

4️⃣ Get comfortable in uncomfortable positions. The catches, throws, and movements that feel difficult today can become strengths over time through repetition and confidence.

🚨 Growth happens when you challenge yourself. Every new skill starts as something uncomfortable before it becomes something you can rely on in a game.

💪 3 MAN ALT FEED QUICK RELEASE SHOOTING

Set up two feeders about 5 yards above GLE and alternate feeds while the shooter works through the middle, catching and releasing as quickly as possible.

📝 Points of emphasis:

1️⃣ Quick release. The ball should spend as little time in your stick as possible. Catch, load, and let it fly.

2️⃣ Catch the ball LOADED. Your hands, feet, and body should already be in position before the ball arrives. Preparation creates power and accuracy.

3️⃣ Stay balanced through the shot. Even with rapid-fire reps, maintain consistent mechanics and finish toward your target.

4️⃣ Communicate with your feeders and keep your feet moving between reps to simulate game-speed conditions.

🚨 This drill is great for conditioning your shot and preparing for high-crease opportunities where defenders are applying pressure. The faster you can get your body loaded and the ball out of your stick, the more dangerous you’ll be on the inside. #Thelaxfactory #shootthetriangle by @thelacrossefactory

💪 AROUND THE ARCH STEP DOWNS

🎯 Focus on the most important part of shooting: CONSISTENCY.

📝 Points of emphasis:

1️⃣ Build a repetitive shooting form. Great shooters don’t rely on luck — they rely on mechanics they can repeat over and over again under pressure.

2️⃣ Out of the 3 points of the shooting triangle (speed, accuracy, deception), today’s focus is ACCURACY.

3️⃣ See spot, hit spot. Pick a target before the ball even touches your stick and trust your mechanics through the release.

4️⃣ Your stick is a paint brush and the goal is the canvas 🎨 Stroke exactly where you are aiming and train yourself to place the ball with intention every rep.

💪 TWISTER TUTORIAL — one of the best deceptive finishing techniques for making goalies move off their line and opening up the cage.

📝 4 steps to throwing an effective twister:

1️⃣ Start with your body and stick aimed AWAY from your actual target. Sell the fake before the shot even starts.

2️⃣ Add a deceptive cradle to freeze the goalie for an extra second and make it look like you’re shooting where you’re aiming… (YOU’RE NOT 👀)

3️⃣ Dip your shoulders toward the direction you’re leaning while keeping your hands tight to your body. Showing your stick forces the goalie to react away from where you actually want to place the shot.

4️⃣ Continue leaning away from your real target and smoothly snap your wrists across your body using mostly your top hand. Lefties dip right and finish left, righties dip left and finish right.

🚨 HINT: Twisters are built on deception, not power. Take a little heat off the shot and focus on making the goalie react to your body language and stick movement #thelaxfactory #shootthetriangle by @thelacrossefactory

💪 This is a look into my pre-game shooting routine — focused on technique, rhythm, feel, and preparing to shoot efficiently at game speed.

📝 Points of emphasis:

1️⃣ Step back load shots — load onto your back leg, transfer your weight through the shot, and finish toward your target with a quiet stick and controlled release path.

2️⃣ Step back crow hop shots — full crow hop back, full crow hop forward. The goal is generating momentum into the shot while staying balanced and driving through the target.

3️⃣ East/West drift + regather shots — work on drifting underneath, catching while moving upfield, and resetting your feet quickly before release.

4️⃣ Flow shooting — aim small and shoot at 50-75% speed. This helps build wrist control, touch, and overall feel throughout the release instead of just trying to shoot hard every rep.

5️⃣ Finish with wing step downs + over/under releases — step into the shot with the same body positioning every rep, then snap over for a 3/4 release or under for a 1/4 release depending on the angle you want.

🚨 Pre-game shooting shouldn’t just be about ripping balls as hard as possible. Focus on feel, consistency, and clean mechanics so your shot translates once the game starts.

2028 @jayden_rubio1

💪 Huge shoutout to Jayden getting after it at 8 AM on a Sunday morning in the pouring rain. That type of commitment and consistency is what separates athletes who WANT it from athletes who WORK for it.

📝 Points of emphasis:

1️⃣ 3-step sweep + 3-step up the hash footwork — focusing on connecting the upper body with the lower body through the entire shot. Smooth technique comes from syncing hand speed, lower body torque, and efficient steps toward the cage.

2️⃣ Change of speed (COS) + change of direction (COD) — learning how to attack defenders with pace changes while re-attacking off the bounce to create separation and force defenders into uncomfortable positions.

3️⃣ Reading defenders — keeping your eyes up to recognize what the defender’s feet and stick are showing so you can react and attack the space available.

🚨 Great players don’t just train when the conditions are perfect. They find ways to improve no matter the weather, time, or circumstances.
