Bar prep is not about having a “perfect” system (who even knows what perfect is?). Bar prep is about having the right tools and using them consistently.

Some people need:
• a bar prep coach for accountability and strategy
• a course that gives a certain type of structure
• memorization techniques that actually stick
• comprehension exercises that help them apply the law instead of just rereading outlines
• better time management
• a new study environment
• more active practice and less passive studying

The key is figuring out what YOU need instead of forcing yourself to study like everyone else. Look, we’re all gonna get there! Just maybe not all the same way.

We are 76 days away from the exam. 10 weeks and 6 days.

That is enough time to improve dramatically if you stop panicking, get honest about your weak areas, and lock in NOW.🧠💪🏾

Performance under pressure comes from preparation long before the moment.

This week, my 1Ls are stepping into oral argument prep. They need to know their case, know their record, and practice until their delivery is clear, controlled, and confident.

But this applies beyond the courtroom. Whether it is class, work, or life, the goal is not just to get through it. The goal is to show up so prepared, that the pressure doesn’t shake you.

Plan with intention. Practice. Tighten your loose ends.

Then walk in ready.

Let’s win the week 💼🔥 by @thelawschooladvantage

What if the problem isn’t that you’re stuck…
but that you’re driving with your brakes on?

Sometimes it’s not the situation holding us back —
it’s US and our:
• doubt
• fear
• overthinking
• waiting for the “right time”

Meanwhile… the light has already turned green.

You’re capable.
You’re ready.
You just haven’t fully let go yet.

This week, check yourself:

Are you stopping because you need to…
or because you don’t trust yourself to go?

Take your foot off the brake.

Tonight, 3/23 at 6:30pm we’re talking about Law School in the AI Era: What Pre-Law Students Should Know.

I’m looking forward to meeting you and diving into this topic! See you tonight! by @thelawschooladvantage

You don’t need someone forcing you toward success.

Real success starts when you decide to lead yourself.

Too many people spend their lives waiting:
• waiting for instructions
• waiting for approval
• waiting for someone to tell them what to do next

But the people who win in life know that Initiative changes everything.

No professor, mentor, or boss can walk your path for you.
They can guide you, but you still have to take the steps.

If you trust your instincts, take initiative, and keep moving forward, you’ll go farther than someone who waits for directions.

Lead yourself.

If you’re studying Family Law for a law school exam or the bar exam, keeping all the issues straight in your head can be hard.

One technique I like to use is a recall web (or a mind map, call it whatever you want 😂)

Start with the subject in the middle — here it’s Family Law — and then build out the major categories that exams usually test.

The way I remember them for family law is with the mnemonic:
“My Defense Can Make Any Play.”

The first letter of each word reminds me of a major issue area (NOTE: I’m in Florida so I am referencing Florida law when I do these).

Marriage – Was the marriage valid? Is common law marriage recognized in the jurisdiction?

Divorce – What’s the ground for divorce? In many jurisdictions it’s no-fault, like “irretrievably broken.” Then you might think about things like prenups, equitable distribution of assets, and alimony.

Children – This brings up issues like the best interests of the child, parental responsibility, child support, and sometimes relocation.

Modification – If someone wants to change a court order, you usually need a substantial, material, and unanticipated change in circumstances.

Adoption – Questions about who can adopt and whether parental rights have been terminated.

And finally Professional Responsibility, because family lawyers also have ethical obligations to their clients and the court.

The point of this exercise isn’t to memorize every rule at once.

It’s to train your brain to spot issues quickly when you see a fact pattern.

If you can start with a structure like this and mentally run through each category, you’re much less likely to miss points on an exam.

Try building your own recall web for other subjects too — it’s a great way to organize a lot of information and make exam issue-spotting much easier. by @thelawschooladvantage

“If there is no struggle, there is no progress.”
— Frederick Douglass

Law school is designed to feel like an obstacle.
Not because you don’t belong… but because pressure reveals strength.

Every cold call, confusing case, disappointing grade, late-night outline session, and moment you wondered “Am I cut out for this?” is doing something beneath the surface:

It’s building capacity.
It’s deepening your reasoning.
It’s sharpening your judgment.
It’s turning pressure into power.

Just like a stream needs rocks to make music…
Just like water needs a dam to generate energy…
You need resistance to become formidable.

Without obstacles, law school wouldn’t produce lawyers — just graduates.

And here’s the part people don’t say enough:
The struggle you feel now is often proportional to the impact you’ll have later.

If the sand didn’t irritate the oyster, there would be no pearl.

So if this semester feels heavy, confusing, or humbling… you are not behind.
You are being refined.

✨ What has been your biggest “obstacle” in law school so far, and what has it taught you?
