George Robert's speaking on Calling the West Indies in 1947. by @thelifeandlega

Two plaques in London for my great grandfather George Roberts. He seemed to have done so much from the moment he arrived in the UK: the first to join a 'white' fighting regiment in WW1, a founder member of the precursor to the British Legion, founding chairman of the London anti-racist organisation the League of Coloured Peoples in 1931, the first visibly black man to join the London fire service in 1938, awarded the British Empire Medal in 1944. Someone who, it seemed, never stopped working for the good of all. I'll feature more of his work here soon. Thanks for reading. by @thelifeandlega
