"It has been a dream almost 30 years in the making, one that I wasn't sure I'd accomplish in this lifetime." - May 2023 After years of sacrifice, blood, sweat, tears, and a stunning mishap with the post office... I can happily & proudly say that this dream has become a reality and I owe it all... To Master John, Grandmaster Suh, and my wonderful TKD family at @usa_taekwondo_school who challenge and inspire me to push past 100% every time... To my loved ones, who never cease to love & support me no matter how tough it gets, and no matter how near or far away they may be... And to God, who continues to bless me with such amazing and beautiful souls, and guides me to be a better person each and every day. I owe it to you ALL. ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿพ No words can express my gratitude deeply enough, but these two will have to do: Thank you. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ #tkd #martialarts #haiti by @themelaninmonk
Hello and goodbye Daytona! It's been an amazing run and I thank God for all the support I've received throughout this competitive season. I learned a great deal through this experience and I can't wait to see what next year brings! Thank you everyone and blessings to you all! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ by @themelaninmonk
California, you were wonderful - from the smell of the unique, roasted air, to the beautiful mountainside view, to even the mix of cultures far and wide, I'm thankful for the opportunity to compete in Nationals this year and I won't forget this experience. To Grandmaster Suh, Master John, and my TKD family - thank you for pushing me to be my best every day in the dojang, for all the extra hours after class, and believing in me every step of the way. To my loved ones - thank you for your continued support behind the scenes, your words of encouragement, and sacrifice - none of this would be possible without you. And a special thank you for the best comrade a brother can have - @0thello_ !!! You made this journey go off without a hitch and there is no shortage of laughs and good times when you're around, thanks again! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ This year's competitive run was grueling but rewarding in many ways and I look forward to competing again next year. #thankyoucalifornia #TKD #martialarts by @themelaninmonk
It was a grueling experience but I'm happy to hold gold in my hand. My lovely boy, Prince... You were truly a man's best friend - a scruffy & scrappy Yorkie-Maltese who loved to play as much as he loved to eat. You were just like me - quiet and reserved at times, a spirited soul with good company, and a fighter through and through. My heart has been shattered with your departure... I'll miss every time you barked and wiggled your nose when you were hungry... Every pawing scratch on my legs when you wanted to play with me or your favorite chew toy... The way you nibbled on my finger with such care to let me know you knew the difference between my finger and your toys... The figure 8's you'd make running around between my legs to welcome me as soon as you saw me walk through the door because you could smell me a mile away every time... To the 3 soft howls you'd utter across the room if I left your side for even a second... It hurts so much and I feel so empty inside...but I want to remember you always as you were - an energetic bundle of joy, uplifting my spirits no matter the occasion, an inquisitive mind with every new sound, smell, or shape... You blessed me with a love I had never experienced before and you are a reminder of how short life is, and how deeply one's presence can touch your very soul...I thank God that I was able to experience your love and I hope that you felt loved as well... I miss you so much and I won't ever forget you as I write these words...Thank you always, my lovely boy, Prince. 1/2/24 - 3/21/25. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿถ by @themelaninmonk
It has been a long while but after many trials & tribulations, I am now one step away from attaining my lifelong dream and I thank Grandmaster Suh, Master John, my excellent instructors and classmates of @usa_taekwondo_school, and my loved ones for their continued support in my martial arts journey. I thank God most of all for giving me a second chance to pursue my dream and I won't take it for granted. ๐Ÿฅ‹๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡น #roadtofirstdegree #tkd #karate #martialarts #proudhaitian by @themelaninmonk
Retirement short lived. ๐Ÿ˜… No catchy caption, no grandiose proclamation, no need to prove anything (anymore), just me hooping. And that's just how it's gonna be from here on out.. until it isn't lol. P.S. It has been a dream almost 30 years in the making, one that I wasn't sure I'd accomplish in this lifetime. I am blessed to be here in this moment of my life, a proud new Black belt, and thankful to my family & friends, my TKD family, and to Master John & Grandmaster Suh for helping make this dream of mine a reality. You all helped me up when I was down, picked me up when I fell, and encouraged me to keep going even when I wasn't sure I could. No words can express my eternal gratitude for your continued love and support, and I can finally close this chapter in my martial arts journey. A new frontier awaits and there's work left to be done, and I can't wait to see what the future holds. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ Next up: 1st degree ๐Ÿฅ‹๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿพ ๐Ÿ“ธ: The goat @0thello_ #TKD #martialarts #athlete #taekwondo #grindneverstops #familyaboveall #Blackbelt #Blessed by @themelaninmonk

After tonight, I can happily say that I am a Red Belt! I'm one step closer to my ultimate goal and I am thankful to all those who supported me in my journey. Black Belt, here I come! ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฅ‹ #RoadToBlackBelt #tkd #martialarts #Redbelt #exercise by @themelaninmonk
Tonight marks one of the happiest moments of my life - I am a proud, new Blue Belt! Growing up watching martial arts films inspired me not only to pursue martial arts but also to one day become a Black Belt myself. When the opportunity presented itself, I started my Tae Kwon Do journey in October of 2012. Unfortunately, after a series of injuries in 2016, I was unable to pursue my competitive dreams and as the years passed by I was no longer able to make martial arts a priority. Although a lot has happened in these past 6 years, a part of me never gave up hope on my lifelong dream and last month I was blessed to pursue it once again! Only 1 more belt before Black remains and I can't wait..! I'm grateful to God for this opportunity to pursue my passion and I'm thankful to my family & friends for their support, and a special thanks to @john_suh_tkd & my TKD family @usa_taekwondo_school for their training and encouragement!! ๐Ÿ“ธ: @0thello_ #tkd #taekwondo #martialarts #exercise #roadtoblackbelt #grindneverstops by @themelaninmonk
Today marks a pivotal moment regarding my life - It has officially been 1 year since I ruptured my right Achilles' tendon. It has been a journey of pain, reflection, growth, and promise...and it is far from finished! I thank God each and every day for granting me the breath of life so I can continue working on becoming the best version of myself and most of all for my friends and family who have helped me to see that better days are ahead. It has been an uphill physical and mental struggle, and without their support I honestly don't know where I would be. Now that I have reached the end of my rehabilitative stage, I must pick up from where I left off and rebuild myself anew, and I can't wait! Blessings to you all, and for those who are going through a tough time, don't give up! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ As a wise man once told me: "If not you, then who? If not now, then when?" Shout out to one of my biggest supporters, my twin @0thello_ by @themelaninmonk
