With a portfolio spanning collaborations with major cultural platforms like Homecoming and leading music figures, Salam has earned a reputation as a master letterer capable of distilling complex musical aesthetics into high-impact wearable art. For the visual rollout of Afrobeats powerhouse Adekunle Gold’s Fuji album, Salam teamed up with Meji Meji and creative director, Chidebe Raphael to build a comprehensive typographic and graphic system. Captured through the lens of photographer @thiaghos_eye, the merchandise capsule serves as a visual bridge between the theatrical heritage of classic West African performance and contemporary global streetwear. Salam engineered a suite of custom logotypes and emblem patches ranging from the heavy, dimensional “FUJI” title treatment set against theatrical blue velvet backdrops to expressive lyric graphics like “Eja Nla No Be Small Fish O,” “All My Dark Days Are Gone,” “Only God Can Save Me,” and “We Rolling In Dollars.” What makes Salam’s work for the Fuji drop so compelling is how the typographic assets adapt seamlessly from bold screen-printed graphic tees and athletic tank vests to intricate silk scarves, bandanas, headwear, and sticker sheets. By playing with vintage lettering styles, drop shadows, and rich color combinations—such as crimson red, mustard yellow, and deep navy—Salam gives each phrase a distinct personality, allowing lyrics to function as bold cultural badges. Through this collaboration, Salam Folayemi demonstrates the power of custom typography in defining a musical era. By marrying raw graphic draftsmanship with refined streetwear strategy, @theminute38 continues to shape the visual language of modern African music; turning album themes into permanent visual artifacts for fans and collectors worldwide.
