Trying to feel or think yourself into action will often lead to circular spiraling thoughts inevitably to land you STILL plopped down in your seat exactly where you began.
Action often spurs on motivation. You will be more likely to catalyze action by moving first. For example, if you are trying to get to the gum but not feeling motivated, sometimes just leaving the house going for a walk or even just standing up and stretching can often make you feel more motivated. Regardless of whether you make it to the gym, you've catalyzed movement by action rather than thought.
Furthermore, a shift in your external narrative (posture or stance) can lead to a change in your internal narrative. Movement and postural changes can completely change your self-talk, mood, and outlook. So If you are looking to feel motivated, get up, move, change your posture, go for a walk!

Our posture effects how we feel inside and out. A simple shift in posture from slumped to tall can play a significant role in how we feel about ourselves AND how others perceive us. If improving your posture has been on your list of goals, check out the link in our bio. We uncover what "good" posture is, teaching you to build positive postural habits and learn to stick with it by implementing small changes in your daily behavior. 🙌🤍🧘‍♀️

FRIDAY FEELINGS 🌱💫
Let go of the baggage and the old story's.
Release expectations of how you think you should feel, be, act, look.... begin to be who you are.
We can step into our authentic selves when we let go of old narratives.
Stop feeling that you need to fulfill others' expectations of "who you are." It's incredible how light we feel when we let go of old narratives and embrace what feels good.
Believe you have the choice to make the change and let go, let go, LET GO!

A reminder that resting is not a luxury; it is a fundamental need for the body and mind to function. If you have guilt surrounding rest and self-care, try to remember how much more productive you will be on the other side of rest. We simply can't outsmart the body and mind; not taking time to rest WILL lead to burnout.
How are you creating space for rest?

It's okay if you are NOT ready to begin.
During this time of year, there is so much frenzied pressure to set goals and intentions, refresh your closet, change your diet, and start working out again. Over the past few days, I've seen so many "new years challenges" pop up on this feed... only four days into the new year, the content feels exhausting already! The truth is IF you are looking to make habit changes and set new goals, the motivation must come from within. External motivation won't last. To create lasting change, your goals must come from a place of intrinsic motivation. So if you don't feel ready to begin, THAT'S OK! Take your time, reflect on the year past, rest, get clear on what you want, and when you feel THAT ping, the spark, and drive to begin, go for it!!! 🤩

If you feel invisible, overlooked, or lost in a crowd, you are not alone.

Many women identify as not feeling seen both personally and professionally. Women learn to nonverbally apologize through the body and voice; this can show up as closed posture, lack of eye contact, softer modulation in vocal tone, and small movements & gestures.
SOME of these characteristics are innate, and some individuals learn to adopt these habits over time. Some make themself small NOT to be seen, while others may adopt nonverbal practices to fit in.

To begin feeling seen and visible as our authentic self, we first need to let go of the physical habits that don't serve us and make us small. Begin to explore open body language, tall posture, and holding eye contact. Slowly taking on a more confident physical presence will bring about a shift for you both internally and externally.

Sometimes the only way of moving forward is letting go of old story's and choosing to begin again.
We can't rewrite the past, and we can't change people, but we CAN choose to start again and write your narrative in alignment with where you are now and where you dream of being in the future!
It's NEVER too late to begin again.

One of the superpowers of nonverbal awareness is learning to read what isn't said. Reading nonverbal cues is something many of us do instinctively. For example, you see a co-worker with tense shoulders rubbing their forehead, you may infer they are stressed. OR you sense a disconnect from your partner; they are sitting with closed posture shoulders turned inward, slumped over, looking down. Based on your observation of their body posture, you may ask if everything is alright?

When we take a moment to look up and look around, we can tap into our powers of observation. Body movements can highlight and intensify emotional information conveyed during communication and add extra nuances of meaning to emotional expressions. Jumping for joy wouldn't be the same without the jumping... eh?!

So if you want to brush up on your communication skills at work or connect with a current or future partner, begin paying attention to the body. Observe how your own emotions can modulate your physical movement and expressions. When we can identify these moments within our bodies, we can begin to see and understand them in others. The best part about improving your body awareness skills is that you can start today, RIGHT NOW! Begin to pay attention to what your body does when you feel joy, anger, fear, excitement, and sadness and keep tuning in every day. 🖤
