Badly editing my cats on book covers 😻📖

I've been filling a little uninspired lately but I had such a fun time doing part 1 of this, I couldn't resist doing a Part 2! What do you think - should I get another cat to spice things up? 😂 by @theobsidian_vanity

Back at work today 😭😭 I'm already ready to pack for my next trip (dream : go to Iceland)

Anyway it's been a sleepy morning and I'm drinking my jug of coffee to wake up. ☕ Thank you guys for the well wishes!

OK this bathroom needs a full length mirror so I can show off better! 😂 by @theobsidian_vanity

🏝️ Took a break and headed to Key West for my husband's birthday :-) it couldn't have come at a better time since he's been on call for the past month. Definitely needed the sunny Days by the pool and of course I had to hit a couple bookstores. Thank you everyone and regular booksta material coming soon! ❤️ by @theobsidian_vanity

Books that give me 👹 Creepy Tingles 👻

As a horror fan, I am always chasing what I call "creepy tingles" - ie, the chill of slow building dread that keeps me up at night and my eyes glued to the page. On the following slides you'll find liminal spaces, cosmic horror, and a dash of the medieval as the cherry on top.

There is No Antimemetics Division
Annhilation
A Short Stay in Hell
The Staircase in the Woods
The Fisherman
Our Wives Under the Sea
Between Two Fires
Last Days

👻 What books give YOU the creepy tingles? Any reccomendations for me? 🖤 by @theobsidian_vanity

The best of the years reads... And the absolute worst 👹

Thank you so much to @read.it.darker for this idea! This year has been my best reading year ever, and I've found so many of these through the community. ❤️ Let me know what you think of these? Was your fave on the worst list? by @theobsidian_vanity

Badly editing my cats onto book covers 🐈‍⬛

Meet Lily & Beans! Lily is a full Slytherin. She runs the house and makes sure everyone knows it! And Beans, bless her Lil heart, is a complete Hufflepuff. She doesn't have a malicious bone in her body and all she wants to do is play on the porch in the sun.

The books you couldn't pay me to... 👻

I love this trend and had to put my two cents in!

👹 Pick Up -
Romance is not my jam so a few of these were gimmes. I have already been hurt enough with George RR Martin not finishing Thrones, and I think Patrick Rothfuss is following his footsteps with The Name of the Wind trilogy. Lastly, I didn't particularly care for Maeve Fly or American Rapture, and I haven't heard anything about Headlights to make me think it's a huge deviation from Leedes' previous work. And don't get me started on Project Hail Mary. Let's just say, Wier should stick to writing isolated straight white men and never try to write a woman again.

✨ Reccomend - I've already talked a little bit about The Compound & JCID on a previous post - the satirical elements were too shallow for both. The Harpy's ending (IMO) was a total copout. As for The Caretaker - well written but not scary at all!

👽 Reread - most of these were just too intense for a reread, with the exception of The Caretaker (again) and Make Me Better. The alternating POVs and timeliness in MMB killed the momentum for me.

🔥 Shut Up About - All of these are cornerstones of my reading life. Replay honestly kind of blew my mind, just read it. And The Witching Hour had the most perfect couple in it, I think it ruined other romances for me 😂

🖤 Put Down - I am currently reading A Penance for Crows and damn, the Gothic elements are so up my ally. The rest I read in one or two sittings - they were that good.

Play the game, or let it play you. 🔮💜

I couldn't resist the new trend of F*ck, Marry, Kill book edition! You'll find timeless reads that I will love forever to some rare gems I would kill to read for the first time again 💞

If you know my taste, you know what to expect. This lineup is packed with cosmic isolation, surreal disasters, and some good old psychological disasters.

How would you play this round with these exact titles? Drop your choices below, or give me your own bookish FMK lineup 👇🏼

The Game Board
F*ck (Had me messed up): The Fisherman, The Caretaker, Underlake, Big Swiss, Bunny, Our Wives Under the Sea.
Marry (Love until the end of time): The Terror, Annihilation, The Pisces, My Year of Rest and Relaxation, Between Two Fires, Rouge.
Kill (To read again for the first time): There Is No Antimemetics Division, Piranesi, Annie Bot, Bunny, Replay, Decomposition Book. by @theobsidian_vanity

Movies you couldn't pay me to... 👻👽👿

✨ Had to hop on this trend! I am a huge cinefile and going to a theater to watch a movie is one of my favorite things to experience. In person community activities are dying and I don't want movie theaters to go the same way!!

You couldn't pay me to watch anything torture p**ny, anything where a dog or cat dies, or Wicked. (sorry bestie I know you love it!) I can handle gore, but when it comes off as mean spirited it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. ✨

✨ I can't stop talking about Sheep Detectives - if you haven't seen this yet I BEG you to check it out. I cried, I laughed, and tbh it's the best movie I've seen all year (including The Odyssey). When I'm down or stressed, I turn to horror to make myself feel better. Hi, Smile 2! The fact that Naomi Scott didn't get any noms for this one is CRAY.

I will never watch Under the Skin or Ant Man Quantumania for very different reasons. Under the Skin was a stunning and harrowing film I will never forget, and I highly reccomend it. It's just soooo dark and that ending!! Ant Man is, well, gutterball garbage that I wish I could burn from my memory as well as existence. It truly ruined my day. Any of these your faves? It was so hard to pick some of these!✨ ✨ by @theobsidian_vanity
