pur•pose | ‘perpes | noun • the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. ________________ If you had asked me what my purpose was a year ago, a month ago, or even a few weeks ago I can honestly say that shamefully I had no idea. Growing up, I went through life living out the dreams that others around me had for my life. In doing so, I aimlessly reached for goals that I had no real desire of achieving. I was not sure what I wanted exactly but listening to the opinions of others made it hard for me to hear my own heart. Midway through college, I made the decision to go after all the things that my heart desired. Being multifaceted, I found that I had many talents that I wanted to delve into which led others to think that I had no real direction in life. Once again, I found myself listening to the opinions of others and for a moment thought that maybe I was lost. But then I remembered the ‘Parable of the Talents” found in St. Matthew 25 verses 14-30 where Christ talks about the man who gave talents to each of his servants according to their ability. One receiving 5, one 2, and the other 1. The first two went into the world and doubled what they were given. However the last hid his one talent due to fear. When the time had come to return their talents, the first two were blessed to be rulers over many things because they were faithful over the few things. The last had his talent taken from him and given to the servant with 10 because he put no use to it. I said all that to say, every talent that I was given I put use to. Yes, at times it appeared to others and myself that I was jumping from one thing to the next. But after years of being faithful, I have found that every talent I went after would play an essential part in my overall purpose. Never let your fears bring your talents to waste. Forget about what others think. Drown out the noise and seek out your passions fearlessly. Do this and I promise you that what waits at the other side of that journey is BLISS. Listen to your heart. Love yourself. And you too will blossom and be all that you were meant to be. “A ruler over many things.” My new journey has just begun…🤍 by @theofficialtyrarenee
