Most women are told to either go to PT once a week with no real guidance between sessions… or buy a generic online program and do it alone.

I created @pelvicconfidence because active women deserve something better.

My clinic is built for active women through TTC, pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond who want 1:1 care that actually helps them lift, train, and run without pelvic symptoms holding them back.

That means: in-person sessions when needed, structured pelvic floor rehab + full-body strength programming, and ongoing guidance between sessions so you’re never left guessing.

I work with women in Lincoln Park, Chicago, through my hybrid model, and I also support some women 100% online.

So whether your goal is to prepare for pregnancy, stay strong during pregnancy, return to lifting postpartum, or finally address pelvic symptoms that keep showing up when you train, there’s a path for you here.

Reintroducing Myself to the Pelvic Confidence Community! ✨

Hi everyone, I’m Dr. Meagan, the face behind @thepelvicconfidencedoc and the founder of Pelvic Confidence Physical Therapy @pelvicconfidence. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist, I specialize in helping women conquer their pelvic floor issues as well as stay proactive with their pelvic health from preconception through postpartum and beyond.

But I’m not just a clinician – I’ve been in your shoes. My personal battle with pelvic floor dysfunction grew my passion to help others overcome similar challenges. I have been managing my chronic pelvic pain for over 3 years. I know firsthand the frustration, pain, and isolation it can cause. However, I also played collegiate volleyball and have 10+ years in the fitness industry. I blend my unique skillset to relate with and treat women who not only want to conquer their pelvic floor issues, but return to their favorite sports!

I am on a mission to empower women with confidence and wellness! So, I treat clients both in-person and online. For my Chicago girlies, I practice in Lincoln Park out of a Pilates studio. For my non-Chicago girlies, I work with clients fully online as well.

When I’m not in the clinic, you can find me at the Chicago beaches, strolling around Lincoln Park with a coffee, or reading a book on my rooftop terrace with a glass of wine. I love all things:
- beach
- tennis/golf/beach volleyball
- picnics in the park
- travel
- fancy date nights
- maragritas and Daquiris
- lake life (I grew up in Minnesota)

Connecting with my community is important to me, and I want you to get to know the person behind this account.

One of the most common questions I’m asked as a pelvic floor therapist: “I don’t know if this is even related to my pelvic floor???”

And when you book a consult with @pelvicconfidence , you don’t have to know. We’ll talk through your symptoms to see if pelvic floor therapy is the right fit for you💃🏻🫶🏼

I celebrated my 29th birthday a couple days ago!! So here’s a reflection back on 28: both personally and professionally.

What’s next for year 29:
— scaling and hiring team
— 3 weeks unplugged in Europe for our wedding/honeymoon
— move back closer to the water
— continue to prioritize family time

Here’s to 29💃🏻 by @thepelvicconfidencedoc

Symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD) and/or SIJ discomfort in pregnancy can make every step feel uncomfortable, especially with movements that load one leg at a time (like step-ups or lunges).

Avoiding strength training isn’t the answer. Strength is the answer.

During pregnancy, your body releases hormones like relaxin that increase mobility in the joints around your pelvis. This helps your body prepare for birth, but it can also make the joints a little more sensitive to uneven loading.

Instead of giving up movement, we modify it:

➡️ Swap single-leg work for bilateral or staggered-stance variations.

➡️ Focus on hip and glute strength to support the SI joints.

➡️ Train in symptom-free ranges and build stability through controlled strength. by @thepelvicconfidencedoc

Bladder health = pelvic floor health.

Your pelvic floor muscles support your pelvic organs, including your bladder.

So when women are experience symptoms associated with their bladder, the pelvic floor is often to blame.

And changing these 2 daily habits can have a big impact on your pelvic health🤯 by @thepelvicconfidencedoc

She booked 3 months of pelvic floor therapy before her due date. Not because something was wrong, because she wanted to be proactive.

August, what a MONTH.

Personally and professionally, this was arguably my busiest month to date.

@pelvicconfidence is growing: I hired an EA, we officially have a two-week waitlist for new clients, and I’ll be looking to hire again in the coming months.

Life didn’t slow down either. @dr.kevinhershberger and I hosted out-of-state friends and family three weekends in a row. I wouldn’t have it any other way, even if it means bringing work to the beach 🤠 by @thepelvicconfidencedoc

Most birth prep online is mobility work. Hip openers, deep squats, figure fours, a lot of stretching.

Mobility matters. It’s how you get into and out of the positions that open all three levels of the pelvis, the inlet, the mid pelvis, and the outlet, and how you move between them while you’re laboring.

But more mobility is not automatically better in pregnancy. Relaxin and the other hormones already have your ligaments more lax than usual, so your joints have less passive support than they did before.

When you keep chasing more range on top of that, women can end up with pubic symphysis pain, SI joint pain, or low back pain. The joint doesn’t need more room. It needs more control….

That’s why I lean heavily on strength training to open all three levels of the pelvis. A squat, a lunge, a hip hinge, a deep split stance take you through those same ranges, and you build strength through the range instead of just hanging out in it.

You get the position plus the ability to hold it, change it, and produce force in it, which is what labor actually asks for.

I still prescribe mobility work. Just a lot less of it than people expect.

Andddd mobility and flexibility aren’t the same thing.

Mobility is how much motion you can control at a joint. Flexibility is how much a tissue can lengthen.

During a vaginal delivery, your pelvic floor muscles can stretch to about three times their resting length. That’s tissue extensibility, and it’s trained differently.

That’s why birth prep includes things beyond exercise. Learning to fully relax and lengthen your pelvic floor on demand, breath work that takes tension out instead of adding it, perineal work in the last few weeks, hands-on treatment if there’s real tension, and practicing pushing mechanics so you know how to coordinate all of it when pushing.

The women I work with train strength and mobility and flexibility, and they practice the coordination piece before they’re in a room with contractions.

If you’re pregnant and just realized you don’t know, what you don’t know… I’m a pelvic floor physical therapist and I work 1:1 with clients in Chicago and online offering custom programs. by @thepelvicconfidencedoc

A practice that makes money when clients get better instead of when I see more of them. No ceiling, because nobody else signs my checks.

We’ve decided Botox and a nice bag are normal spending, but paying for your pelvic health is an indulgence.

Same with strength training. Lifting light weights for a lot of reps is a workout and I’m glad you’re moving, but it’s not strength training if you’re not lifting heavy enough weights and training close to failure.

And the proactive stuff. Every new stage, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, puts new demand on your pelvic floor. Getting ahead of it is cheaper, faster, and so much easier than showing up when things are already bad.

You don’t get better because of one hour a week on a table. You get better from the program you run on the other six days, and from a pelvic PT who coaches and progresses you instead of just putting hands on you.

The rest is how I’m choosing to live.

We spend a real chunk of our time and money flying home to see family. Last year alone I traveled 100+ days. Family and relationships > my career.

We’re getting married in Europe next year with our closest people in one place, which some people find selfish. But the day is about Kevin and I. That’s that.

We’d also rather put money into a trip than into things that sit in our apartment, which is part of why we’re not rushing to buy a house.

And kids are on pause while we build and travel, because these are the golden years and we’re spending them on purpose.

Also kinda chic to start a sport as an adult. I picked up tennis knowing I’d be bad at it for a while, but wanted to learn because I love everything about the sport and hope my future kids will want to play it too.

None of this is advice. It’s just what I’ve decided to spend my money, time, and energy on. by @thepelvicconfidencedoc
