You can understand your childhood and recognise the unhelpful patterns you repeat in your adult relationships and yet still struggle to change them.

Healing requires more than just insight, it involves receiving something different in relationship to repair the unmet needs from childhood and have space to process your unresolved feelings about it which continue to impact you now so that you vary a different template of relationships moving forward.

If this resonates I would love to support you.

Online therapy sessions available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with some new limited evening slots.

Email me at hello@harrietgleeson.co.uk to book in a free 20 min zoom call and get started 📧

In families when you have been taught to keep the peace, protect the image at all costs and not question the truth, I understand that talking about what happened (and what didn’t) can feel wrong 💔

But you’re allowed to be a separate person with a different perspective than what you have been told.

You’re allowed to feel angry, hurt, confused or upset.

You’re allowed to talk about your experience, to need support and have your own space to process it with someone else.

You are not betraying your family. But you are betraying yourself when you minimise it, make excuses, gaslight yourself or brush things under the carpet to stay in relationship with them in this way.

You can choose you and still love them. You can choose to meet your needs, hold boundaries and decide what is right for you. Even if that has an impact.

If this resonates and you would like some support to understand and manage tricky family dynamics from a therapist that gets the fear, obligation and guilt which is keeping you stuck, drop me an email at hello@harrietgleeson.co.uk to arrange a free 20 min zoom call 💌

The part no one talks about when going no contact is the daily decision to stay no contact.

You don’t just cut someone off and get on with your life. You have to make it over and over again each time the grief hits.

In all the moments when you miss them, doubt yourself, hope they have changed, need someone to turn to or desperately wish that things could be different.

You make the decision to choose you and stay separate because every time they should have chose you they didn’t.
And it’s unlikely they will this time either.

Grieving a family member who is still alive is often incredibly painful and lonely. There are no rituals, no time off, public acknowledgment or support.

Most people who cannot fathom what it is like to have a relative so cruel or harmful you have to cut contact with them, cannot understand why you are so sad when it was you who ‘chose’ to leave.

I know it was the only option you had left after years of trying.

You have seen things you cannot unsee and will forever be changed that means going back this time is no longer possible.

If you are navigating estrangement and need space to make sense of things and have your feelings about it with a therapist who gets it, please reach out and make contact with me.

When you have learnt that you need to be useful in relationships so that people don’t leave you I understand why you might see them as transactional.

But as your therapist, you don’t pay me to care about you. That evolves naturally over time as our relationship deepens ✨

Therapy is a space where you can practice getting what you need without having to look after me, manage my feelings or wonder whether you are too much 💖

Email me at hello@harrietgleeson.co.uk to arrange a free 20 min no obligation zoom call and we can have an informal chat about how I can support you 🌱

The challenges you experience in relationships now often stem from the safety, connection and love you received (or an absence of it) from parents growing up.

Therapy provides space to make sense of how your current relational patterns have cleverly developed to protect yourself, and through the growing safety of our relationship, you can begin to practice new relational risks and receive reparative experiences of being attuned, heard, and cared for, to heal old attachment wounds and unmet needs.

Over time this can mean:
-Being able to share how you feel without being shamed or rejected
-Feeling less afraid of getting things ‘wrong’ or that people will leave you
-Asking for what you need without feeling like a burden
-Increased tolerance of intimacy and vulnerability so you don’t need to pull away
-Being able to sit with being separate or alone without needing to fill it

If you are ready to develop happier, healthier and more secure adult relationships, I would love to support you 💖

Growing up with a parent who isn’t interested in you shapes how you relate to others as an adult and what you expect in your friendships and partners.

You may be used to not taking up any space, being scared of being too much and worrying what other people think about you.

In therapy we can explore together how this impacts you now, and give you a space where you don’t have to figure everything out on your own. I believe that in receiving something different this repairs those earlier wounds so that you can learn to take risks in other relationships with people who are available to give you what you need instead of repeatedly seeking your parents, or partners, who can’t.

If this sounds like something that would be helpful, drop me a message at hello@harrietgleeson.co.uk to arrange a free 20 min call 📧

I currently have availability for new and returning clients seeking online sessions during the daytime and limited new slots on a Wednesday evening ☺️ by @therapy.with.harriet

If you find that you keep telling yourself you’re too needy, or you’re being too sensitive, or you should just get on with it on your own, then I gently invite you to take a risk to receive something different. It’s human to need people and you don’t have to keep struggling by yourself 🫶

I can help you to make sense of how your childhood continues to impact you today and to break patterns which are no longer serving you.

✨ My online therapy group is now open to new members starting July 2026 ✨

For nearly four years, I’ve been facilitating this group as a place to heal from the impact of childhood trauma, make sense of dysfunctional family dynamics and resolve attachment wounds that shape our relationships today.

Group offers something many of us have never experienced before: the opportunity to be seen, understood, and responded to differently within relationship. It is through connection, reflection, and shared experience, that new ways of relating can emerge and old relational trauma gets healed.

If you are in individual therapy and are ready to join a group setting I’d love to welcome you 🫶
