🐾 How to Prepare Your Dog for Assessment 💛 Thinking about becoming a therapy dog team? It all starts with preparation 🐶✨ Here are a few ways to help your dog feel confident and ready: ✔️ Practice basic obedience (sit, stay, come, loose leash walking) ✔️ Expose them to new environments (busy places, different surfaces, sounds) ✔️ Encourage calm behaviour around people of all ages ✔️ Work on gentle greetings (no jumping, relaxed interactions) ✔️ Build focus—your dog should check in with you often 💡 Tip: Keep training positive, patient, and fun! Remember, it’s not about perfection—it’s about having a calm, friendly dog who enjoys being around people 💙 👇 Do you think your dog would pass an assessment? #TherapyDogsCanada #DogTraining #TherapyDogs #DogTips #DogLovers #DidYouKnow by @therapydogscanada

They typically visit places like: 🏥 Hospitals 🏫 Schools 👵 Senior homes And always with guidance from their handler 🐶✨ Both roles are important—but they follow different rules 💙 👇 Did this surprise you? #TherapyDogsCanada #MythVsFact #DogEducation #TherapyDogs #DidYouKnow #DogFacts by @therapydogscanada

💛 A Visit That Meant Everything 🐾 Last week, one of our therapy dog teams visited a local senior home—and something beautiful happened. As soon as Bella 🐶 walked into the room, one resident who had been quiet all morning suddenly lit up. She reached out, smiled, and softly said, “I used to have a dog just like you…” For the next 20 minutes, she shared stories, laughed, and didn’t stop petting Bella. ✨ Moments like this remind us why therapy dogs matter. It’s not just a visit… it’s connection, comfort, and a spark of joy when it’s needed most. 🐾 One dog. One visit. One meaningful impact. ❤️ If this story touched you, share it—and help spread the love.
