CHILDREN OF CIGALIA | COMPANION | EP06

Passing a drinking horn was a fundamental act of hospitality.
As if you were to share a drink from the same horn, it was to share a bond of trust and friendship. (I could be wrong)

That being said, here’s a little something I learned today.

There was a ceremony called the Sumbel. Documented in Beowulf, the Lokasenna, the Heimskringla, not mythology.

You sat, you passed the horn, you toasted the gods, your ancestors, and the people in the room. And when you made an oath during Sumbel, it wasn’t casual. It was public and out in the open.

Everyone witnessed it, and best believe they held you to it. It wasn’t something you can take lightly an just think it’s an everyday thing.

Now for the horns, there was definitely a rhyme to the reason.
Common warriors used simple, polished horns. Chieftains and nobility had theirs decorated with silver, gold, and intricate carvings.
Same ritual. Often the same room.

But the horn you were handed told everyone exactly what you were worth to the man running the hall.

Here’s something to think about while you are maybe waking up from a night of maybe one to many.

Who have you made a public show of loyalty to that you’d actually follow through for?
And who did it back knowing damn well they wouldn’t?

Quite dapper, ain't I?
Now on to our scheduled program, where I release original music that makes you wonder who hurt me and if I need therapy.
Yes, to all.

Most people treat history as a spectator sport.
The ones who shape the future treat it as a sparring partner.

Had a killer day over at @thepatchwoodland

Hit 2 different mazes and not going to lie to you I kept feeling like I was gonna have mob bosses come out of the corn fields and get me out of here lol

They had this Mac Sundae that was freaking phenomenal, and it paired well with the blackberry hot barbecue sauce they offered.

Sometimes there’s nothing better than just getting outside and seeing nature.

Let’s freaking go, man!

Episode one and two of Behind The Mask with me and @treemoss.creates is on YouTube right now!

Instagram has been coming in clutch with previews and all that at least with how I’ve come back and seen it being used lol

If you’re new to the series, please check out the clips on my page as we have been breaking down the sweet spots of each episode but honestly it’s under selling how much vulnerability people put it to this if you just go off a 35 second clip.

This is the epitome of DIY artist podcasting as its finest and everything you hear here is something we genuinely enjoy discussing and not something that is just regurgitated off of an overly saturated headline.

Haven’t been to the range in a very long time.
Fun time.

As life continues to shift and evolve around us, we keep tokens of our experience. Our focus could lean more towards the direction of appreciating what we have brought with us, rather than how these things become a symbol of a distant memory.

The Opportunity in Change ⏳✨

Friendly reminder: Karma is a bitch that doesn’t need to connect with a two-piece to deal the most damage.
