10 day prep hitting the events, last minute entry, first competition after about a 15 month absence and a wonderful day spent with @brookesbattle_hlh ❤️ Mandy encouraged me to do this comp and we were even able to hit a few training sessions together for this one, stuff like this means the world to me.

Competed and was able to bring home the gold in HW division 🪙 the medal is hanging up in Brooke's crib! I left the hospital in the morning and got back in time to say goodnight and get her to fall asleep.

I had an amazing day being around other competitors again, making new friends, talking shop, raising more awareness for Brooke's Battle October 29th (thank you to everyone who already signed up) and enjoying the sport I love with my family. It was Blakes first contest and I can't wait for Brooke to be able to go to her first comp and watch daddy 💕

Event 6, finally able to do a keg toss and really whip those bad boys!

Welcome to The Rehab Doctor!

We do things differently around here.

We don't just chase pain or provide temporary fixes.

We find the root cause, restore how your body moves, and build the strength to keep you doing what you love.

Because rehab shouldn't just get you out of pain.

It should get you back to living life on your terms!

Not many people know this feeling.

And no, its not just 900+ in your hands

The years training

The injuries along the way

The setbacks

The frustration of not improvimg

The pain

And finally making the decision to get help

Just to go and be told to stop lifting....

I've been there

Been told I'll never be able to do this again.

I don't operate that way.

As a lifter

Or as a Doctor

Ive seen 83 year old woman deadlift for the first time in my clinic and that excitement picking up 100lbs for the very first time in their life

The empowerment that brings.

There's Lifting for Longevity and then there's Longevity in Lifting.

Being strong for decades.

I first deadlifted 700 almost 12 years ago.

Injuries. Set backs. Major live events. Stress. Death. Grief.

Here we are today. Improving. Again. by @therehabdoctor.dc

Last 4 weeks have been the highest total volume in a 4 week block for conventional deads in a long time. Goal has been more consistent pulling.

I've been tweaking my stance slightly to feel more glutes/better wedge as well vs relying on more hamstrings.

Pin Goodmornings have been doing a great job at reinforcing that pattern and im the strongest I've ever been at 45 degree back extensions.

Hit a new low 321lbs this morning as well.

Preparing for a push for that 2k total. by @therehabdoctor.dc

Who says you cant lift heavy in your 70s?

This is a perfect example of how rehab should match your goals. From sciatica to doing her first powerlifting meet in her 70s and falling in love with getting stronger.

Not strong for her age.

Just strong. And getting stronger.

Rehab should match your goals and thats what we do at The Rehab Doctor

The climb continues.

First day back in legit wraps.

585 moving.

Last full power meet was 2018.

One question

USPA or UPA?

Comment below with your favorite meet from either fed within a few hours of southern Wisconsin

Years away from back squatting with a bar.

I only used an SSB, zerchers, front squats with straps, etc....

Said it was for strongman and to save my shoulders.

Which can be true.

I decided two months ago I would get back to back squatting with a bar, still only using a duffalo bar.

Week 1 Started at 225lbs.

Shoulder & rib cage mobility.

Two months later here at 545lbs.

Still 175lbs away from my best.

Shoulders and knees feel better than they have in awhile.

Makes me miss powerlifting.

That submaster class is looking pretty good to finally hit an official 2k total.

Also, using very light and stretchy wraps cause paying $150 for a pair of sleeves I won't even use in comp is ridiculous. by @therehabdoctor.dc

Social proof I'm still training.

Not at my biggest.

Not at my strongest.

Not at my leanest.

I've been picking up a barbell long enough that the barbell can go to a bar and order a drink. by @therehabdoctor.dc

"Surgery is your only option."

Let me be clear.

Sometimes surgery is absolutely the right answer.

I've had my bicep reattached.

I've had my ACL replaced.

But years ago, after tearing my rotator cuff and labrum, I found myself sitting on the other side of the table.

At the time, my daughter Brooke was just medflighted to a hospital in a different state and was in the PICU hundreds of miles from home.

She was in a coma on a ventilator.

I was told I needed surgery and had to drive back home to meet with a surgeon.

Leaving Brooke was not an option.

So I did what I knew how to do.

I found ways to keep training and started rehabbing my shoulder without surgery.

What started as a necessity became an obsession.

That experience changed the course of my career and how I wanted to practice.

It led me to create the type of practice I always wished existed.

A place where treatment doesn't end when you get off the table.

A place where rehab actually carries over to real life.

A place where active people can learn how to rebuild trust in their bodies instead of living in fear of every ache and pain.

Today, that's the biggest thing I hope my patients walk away with.

Not just less pain.

Not better range of motion.

Not just more strength.

I want them to trust their body again.
To trust that they can play with their kids, golf, hike, compete, or simply live their life without constantly wondering if they're about to hurt themselves.

Because once you lose trust in your body, pain isn't the only thing holding you back.

And when you get that trust back, everything changes.

That's why I do what I do. by @therehabdoctor.dc
