[Read the post] Besides we are hearing a lot about nudges as the cornerstone linked to behavior intervention, there is a large length of tools that can be used for the same purpose.

Remember the "one fits all" issue? Yeah, it's the same case. Depending on the context and purpose of the intervention, it's necessary to use a different set of techniques.

Learning something new is not easy because there is a lot of information out there and evaluating trustful resources requires time and mental inference.

Because of that, I separated 5 world-known businesses that work with behavioral science, applying it to the public and private sectors.

If you are exploring this area and seeking substantial information, check those websites (below) to be familiarized yourself with this niche that is going broad day by day.

1 - Behavior Institute
2 - Behavioral Scientist
3 - The Decision Lab
4 - The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT)
5 - iNudgeyou

Happy holidays.

See you in 2023. by @theroarmaker

During this year, I got more interested in the functions of the human brain and how it operates, affecting and influencing human behavior, analysis, decision-making processes, and hormone releases.

To understand better the human mind, it was also necessary to comprehend emotions, a topic that led me to the Cognitive Neuroscience niche, and Behavior Sciences.

As much as I could access the information, more things started to make sense, and new topics popped up.

If you work/are curious about services that tailor clients' experiences by increasing their positive perceptions and interactions with your company or influencing them to act, the following books, from experts, can help you understand better the human mind.

• The Social Animal by David Brooks
• The Molecule of More by Daniel Lieberman & Michael Long
• Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
• Behave by Robert Sapolsky
• How Emotions Are Made by Lisa Feldman Barrett
• Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

Enjoy your readings.

👇🏻[READ THE CAPTION]👇🏻 If you are curious enough to hunt knowledge about human decision-making, to understand how we make choices, and how our environment influences our perception of a product, a service, and even about someone, I suggest you go after the behavior science and co-related topics.

Okay, but this is not something similar to the TV series Lie to Me. By the way, forget what you saw there. Do you want to know why? Search for Lisa Feldman Barrett.

If you are here long enough, since 2020 at least, you may remember how we used to share knowledge. However, 2 years later I've not seen those topics anymore as before, unfortunately.

I understand, there are a lot of solopreneurs out there who need to promote their work. Fair enough.

On the other hand, I still miss those contents that helped many of us to find great sources of knowledge, and productivity.

During 2022 I got more interested in behavior science (BeSci) and cognitive neuroscience, which helped me to understand, on a deep level, the human mind.

So, if you are curious enough to explore subjects such as psychology, cognitive neuroscience, behavior sciences, and behavioral economics, as also emotion, I suggest you listen to these podcasts:

• Brain Science with Ginger
• Campbell, MD
• Huberman Lab
• Stanford Psychology Podcast
• That Neuroscience Guy
• The Behavioral Design Podcast
• The Decision Corner
• The Human Risk Podcast

All of them are available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Pick up your headphones and enjoy the show. 🎧

More options, more features, more decisions...more, more, more. Ahhhhhh! STOP IT!!

This is the recipe to drive your brain crazy by feeding it with tons of information. 😵

But hiding things isn't a synonym of simplicity.

I was thinking about it. by @theroarmaker

Take advantage of the learning process to design your customers responses.

Ask yourself: how your customers do something?

Can you show them a different path?

⚠️ Warning. To do this is important to dive into research to understand people's motivations and actions, collect data, analyze and test them, and the most important thing, don't brake ethics because you're chasing profits.

Of course this is not a button which we can switch on/off.

Hint: It's easier to learn something than doing the opposite thing. by @theroarmaker

During the whole year of 2021, we experienced many things that brought us new perceptions of this world.

And maybe we can call these moments as fountains or sources of knowledge. Actually, doesn't matter the term we use, but how we will close this cycle.

If I could define 2021 in one single word I would say: learning.

2021 was a year of good surprises and I am grateful for that.

Now, it's time to reboot and come back to January, and say "welcome 2022!"

I hope you discovered many good things this year too.

Besides all negativity surrounds us every single day, I hope we can feel 2022 as a tasty dish.

Many lessons we learn in a practical way...

...but here are 10 books that helped me to understand better human being and their behavior.

1 - Ego is The Enemy by Ryan Holiday
2 - The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg
3 - Ultra Learning - Scott Young
4 - Authenticity by Gilmore and Pine
5 - The Social Animal by David Brooks
6 - Sprint by Jake Knapp
7 - Design for How People Think by John Whalen
8 - Articulating Design Decisions by Tom Greever
9 - Laws of UX by Jon Yablonski
10 - Just Enough Research by Erika Hall

Honorable mentions
⭐ Design of Everyday Things by Don Norman
⭐ Don't Make Me Think by Steve Krug
⭐ Hooked by Nir Eval

Happy New Year

What's the difference between Learning and Studying?

#humancognition #perception #memory #brain #mind #ux #uxlearning by @theroarmaker

Passing through the Working Memory area, the Long-Term Memory (LTM) is responsible for "receiving" the not-so-new-information to store it later.

When this process happens, we can say "I know something" because after we are familiarised with the new information by manipulating and reviewing it many times, our brain creates a "shortcut" allowing us to use that knowledge without requiring the cognitive effort (aka thinking a lot to come up with an accurate response).

In this way, we can do many things intuitively/automatically, with no consciousness about the task we are performing.

On the other hand, sometimes we can't recall info from this area.
A situation appears, and we experience that weird feeling of I-know-the-right-response-for-that-but-I-can't-remember.

This is Long-Term Memory, dyetka
(briefly and simply, of course) by @theroarmaker

Today I was thinking about Short-term memory (aka STM) and how it affects our actions.

To understand this biological "feature" better, I like to compare it as the "first room" inside our brain where external information stops.

So, we can manipulate it because we are conscious of its presence.

For example, when we need to add a new contact into our contact list, we have to pay attention to some data such as name, surname, phone number, email, etc. While we are doing that we use our STM.

On the other hand, when we do something automatically, like brushing teeth, we are using Long-term memory. But this is another topic. by @theroarmaker

Where is experience or perception, anyway?

Our brain works all the time by receiving stimuli from our 5 senses, which becomes information, and then these data are codified, interpreted to then generate an accurate response, which will be externalized through our actions.

Inside this process of codifying data, we can locate experience and perception. Both of them are flexible things that can be shaped by many factors such as culture, beliefs, and context, for example.

Good guys to check: Daniel Kahneman, Robert Sapolsky and Don Norman by @theroarmaker

What if the term "user focused" or "user driven" is another way to say Ego Driven?

Do you think we are an ego nation?
Or is it possible to scape from it?

Feel free to add your point of view.

Keep striking 💪🏻💥
