Branding secret you never heard before ⏬ If you're building your brand you need two brands A personal brand and a business brand A personal brand is something you can take wherever you go. People want to do business with people so personal brands are naturally better at attracting customers. Business brands on the other hand are far more scalable. Many people make a business, which turns it into a powerhouse for growth. The trick is using personal brands to: ✅ Build relationships ✅ Give your brand character ✅ Drive more traffic to your business. Then use the business to: ✅ Handle the day-to-day operations ✅ Fulfill customer needs ✅ Scale the business by @therobbiemurray
How to Hack Into Customers' Emotions ⏬ If you want to impact how your customers see your brand, it helps to know Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. This theory categorizes human needs from basic needs like food and security to higher-level needs like self-actualization. Brands use this to identify where they fit in a customer's life, helping to create meaningful relationships and identifying triggers that cause people to buy. For instance, McDonald's fulfills basic needs by providing food quickly and conveniently. Their marketing focuses on affordability and happiness, reinforcing the idea that they're a place to satisfy your hunger and be happy. Meanwhile, Apple appeals to higher-level needs by offering products that enhance creativity and productivity. Their marketing highlights innovation and design, making customers feel part of an elite group that has a higher standing in society. Understanding where your brand fits in will help you create successful marketing material that stops customers in their tracks. Here's how to find out where you fit: 1️⃣ Functional Brands Cater to basic needs like security and convenience. Customers look for efficiency, reliability, and straightforward solutions. ✅ Emphasize product/service reliability. ✅ Highlight convenience and time-saving aspects. ✅ Use language that communicates ease-of-use and stress free functionality. 2️⃣ Emotional Brands Connect on a social level, fostering belonging and community. Customers look for connection, social validation, and experiences that resonate with their identity. ✅ Create content that resonates with your audience’s lifestyle. ✅ Speak to your customers' self-esteem, and make them feel special.  ✅ Share user-generated content to create a stronger community.  3️⃣ Life-Changing Brands Inspire and empower customers to unlock their potential and leave a legacy. Customers look for inspiration and transformative experiences. ✅ Share stories of customer success. ✅ Offer educational content for growth. ✅ Highlight aspirational aspects of your brand. Use this to build a brand your customers resonate with. Follow for more tips @therobbiemurray #branding #marketing #brands #branding101 by @therobbiemurray
Use psychology to make your brand feel luxurious ⏬ When it comes to creating a luxury brand, it helps to understand the psychology that goes into it. Archetypes are a sure way to develop your brand around a set of characteristics that your customers are going to resonate with. When it comes to Luxury brands you'll often see the Lover Archetype at work. This archetype is incredibly charismatic, passionate and seductive. Industries such as jewellery, indulgent foods, and relationship coaches can greatly benefit from adopting the Lover archetype. However it's not limited to these industries, any business that wants to create a high level of intimacy, trust, and loyalty with their customers should infuse this archetype into their marketing materials. This will help build deeper emotional connections with your audience and position you as a pillar of confidence in your customers life. If you're building your brand you need to hear this ⏬ When creating your name avoid locking yourself into a specific category. Many times I'll see names that lock a business into a specific category. Names with product or service specific details not only limit your growth as a business, they look long and are easy to forget. It's the reason why Apple dropped "Computer" from their brand name in 2007. They wanted the business to be more than just computers... It's for that same reason why we don't refer to Nike as Nike Shoes, or Lego Toys. If you want to continue growing your business, leaving room for growth is a good idea. Better to not lock your name into a category that's harder to get out of when you've built familiarity. Read this If you want your brand to feel more luxurious ⏬ Luxury brands leave room for the imagination. They are often cryptic with their messaging. Their visuals tend to lean on abstract ideas rather than concepts your mind can easily comprehend. This is because a luxury brand's strategy is to create a dream world. It's not meant to make sense; it's supposed to feel radically different from reality. Mystery comes from a lack of information, not an abundance of it. This is what creates that luxury feel. To create a similar feeling for your brand, here are some tips: 1️⃣ Don't give your customers all the information. Intentionally leave gaps in your marketing messages so customers have to fill in the blanks. 2️⃣ Use abstract visuals and concepts. Think in terms of art and emotions rather than straightforward messaging. 3️⃣ Incorporate minimalist design. Simplicity in your visuals and layouts can evoke a sense of elegance and mystery. 4️⃣ Create a sense of exclusivity. The harder it is to work with you and obtain your products, the greater the element of mystery becomes. The trick is to have a majority of people that know you. But a minority that can buy from you. And if you need help with this, drop a comment below saying "Guidance". Make your brand feel more expensive ⏬ By using monogram patterns in your design. Important note: Monogram patterns aren't just exclusive to product based businesses. For service based businesses, logo patterns can help subtly brand your proposals. Add a wow factor to your website. You may even consider your own branded merch. You don't need to be in the business of selling products to sell your own merch. With a strong enough message, fans will happily buy merch. Adding another stream of revenue 😁👍 Use this to make your brand feel more expensive Follow for more branding tips #brand #branding #brands #branding101 by @therobbiemurray
Don't leave money on the table ⏬ If you want your business to make more sales, use nudging. Nudging is a subtle tactic that can make your brand: ✅ Feel more trustworthy ✅ Drive more sales ✅ Help your customers make the right purchase decision This technique isn’t just for products; it’s also powerful for service-based businesses. For example, as a consultant, you can use social proof nudging by showcasing testimonials on your sales calls. Highlighting successful projects and satisfied clients can give your prospects a sense of what to expect. To implement nudging effectively: 1️⃣ Anchoring: Display your premium offer first to set a high price expectation. Then, show more affordable options to make them seem like great deals. 2️⃣ Social Proof: Share customer testimonials, reviews, and case studies. Seeing others’ positive experiences can nudge potential clients towards your services. 3️⃣ Upsells: After you've won a sale, have a relevant offer to provide your customer next. A well oiled business never stops after the first sale, have a plan for your customer to increase their lifetime value. By incorporating these nudging strategies, you can enhance trust, increase sales, and guide your customers to make the best purchase decisions. What makes people buy Mac over Pc? ⏬ Hint: It's not because the specs are better 😅 People buy into ideas and belief systems. Dove happens to be one of my favourite examples of brands that hit the mark on why you should buy. Their real beauty campaigns still go strong to this day, promoting more than just a product but a place where all women are encouraged to embrace their natural beauty. To find your why, think about an outcome that would mean the world for your customers. Make that your mission, then use it in your manifesto, your marketing... if you're a service based business talk about it in your video sales letter! Introduce your "Why" before asking people to buy. This will invite your customers to make an impact with you, and you'll attract more customers and a larger audience that wants to be a part of what you do. Enjoyed this post? Branding secret you need to know ⏬ If you want your brand to become iconic, then keep reading. Have you ever decided not to watch a movie solely because it had an actor you didn't like? 🙋🏻‍♂️ Well, most of our decisions to buy or not buy come from the people behind the creation. The same applies to the brands we buy from. Nobody immediately snagged Apple products off the shelves. It took a lot of effort from people like Steve Jobs to build relationships and convey their vision. Just like nobody immediately bought all of Chanel's handbags. Her pioneering designs, bold personality, and impeccable fashion sense helped build a brand that people were attracted to. The personalities, stories, and actions that people take are what make a brand relatable. So, if you want your brand to be unforgettable, focus on the people and stories behind it. ✅ Share your vision and values. ✅ Showcase the personalities that make your business human. ✅ Speak on topics that hold a special place in your heart. This shows that you are more than just the products you sell. You become a voice that matters and an authority that leads the industry you serve. Use this to make your brand feel more expensive ⏬ Subtle applications make a huge difference when it comes to influencing how people feel about your brand One of my favourite tricks is leveraging a slight change in camera angle. By taking photos of your models looking down, it creates the idea that you are above the viewer. Putting you and your brand in a position of power and secretly planting the idea that people should look up to you. Hope you enjoy this trick and use it to create a luxury brand that sticks 🙏 Follow for more branding tips @therobbiemurray #brand #branding #luxury #brands #marketing by @therobbiemurray
Use psychology to make customers love your brand ⏬ What is your reason for getting up in the morning? Understanding this reason and weaving it into your brand is a sure way to create a meaningful brand. You can find your reason through a Japanese concept called Ikigai, which translates to “your reason for being.” Ikigai consists of four key elements: 1️⃣ What you love (Passion) 2️⃣ What the world needs (Mission) 3️⃣ What you are good at (Profession) 4️⃣ What you can be paid for (Vocation) When you know what guides your actions, it acts as a powerful direction to drive your business. It also helps define what separates your brand from others. Nothing is more powerful than "why you do what you do". Take Patagonia, for example. "We're in business to save our home planet." Every action they take is a commitment to helping the planet. This is visible through their products, their campaigns, and the initiatives carried out by the brand.  For me, the reason why I love sharing educational content on branding is because I didn't have the luxury of an education growing up. I want to provide that knowledge to others. One of my clients decided to build a marketplace for small business owners because he spent 7 years grinding on his own business and wished he had the tools and knowledge he has now back then. The point is, some of the strongest reasons are "closer to home" than you think. Here are some tips to express your Ikigai in your brand: 1️⃣ Identify values and moments that drive your existence. 2️⃣ Show how your brand impacts others. 3️⃣ Integrate your Ikigai into your product/services. 4️⃣ Craft campaigns that give meaning to your customers. By communicating your Ikigai, you can communicate your "why," forming a stronger connection with the people that see, hear, and feel your message. Have fun expressing your Ikigai!
