Courtesy of John McLaughlin Archive Facebook page: "One of L.Shankar’s greatest recordings came in 1988 when he was asked to collaborate on Peter Gabriel's soundtrack for The Last Temptation of Christ which would become known as 'Passion. Toronto, experience the legendary @theshenkar live. A rare opportunity to witness one of the most influential violinists in Indian classical music. A founding member of Shakti and the inventor of the 10-string stereophonic Double Violin, Shankar’s contributions to Carnatic music, particularly his explorations of Ragam-Tanam-Pallavi and complex tala structures, have earned him a distinguished place in contemporary musical history. On November 22, L. Shankar performs in Toronto, accompanied by V. Selvaganesh and Amit Kavthekar. November 22, 2026 | 8 PM Toronto Part of ISHQ Festival 2026. Tickets on sale now.
