“2 weeks tobacco free”=
drawing as a healthy coping mechanism 🧚🏾‍♂️

I set out to quit mu tobacco use two weeks ago! with the support of a Nicotine patch and I remembered today that quitting cigarettes and BAD insomnia is what got me into drawing more 8 years ago. I would take my same break outside but i would bring a lil sketch pad and draw for the amount of time it would take me to smoke, while breathing intentionally. I would also pull out my sketch pad when watching a boring movie wasn’t enough to put me to sleep and draw while laying on my stomach until i felt drowsy.

intuitive drawing is one of my fave ways to ground, a moving meditation, a nervous system regulator and way better use of my hands!

solidarity to those of you who are also in your quit - whether it be tobacco or other things you decided were no longer healthy for you! you go this ✊🏾 #artconjuresessions #automaticdrawing #outsiderart #tobaccocessation #punkfairygodmuvamusings by @thesoniccollage

i am punk guitarist with folk, blues and psych rock influences. it’s taking me a while to call myself a guitar player, though i started at 15, i picked it up and put it down so many times. locked in at 35 (6 years ago) when i took a step back from performing to recalibrate - working on filling that gap between my “skillset and my musical tastes” (Ira Glass)

i feel the gap closing in - proud af of me by @thesoniccollage

been 41 for almost 2 weeks now
health is priority
day two of my tobacco quit
and these pipes already feeling more clear. getting parts of my voice back- staying on my supplements and movement and meditation. guitar practice and writing - leaning into my walk toward elder hood -

i got a lot to share - just reconfiguring how to share it-

my fave mantra right now that i wrote for myself back in May

“move at a steady pace

slow and steady wins the race

give yourself grace

wait in faith

be patient “

*getting better at my instrument

Today we're rewinding to our magical “Eldest Daughter 4 Eldest Daughter” music show at @dorothydownstairs.

@thepunkfairy (they/them) is a creativity doula, sonic collagist, art conjuror, and founder of Black DIY Punk Art Studio Sonic Collage House. The original composition, “Inside my Outside,” is described by them as channeled at the altar – a meditation on the fears of unmasking as a Black Autistic person in the United States of America."
