We’re excited to share a major milestone in our journey 🩵

In 2021, The Usual Artspects began as an art show business—hosting pop-ups across DFW that brought together artists, vendors, live music, food trucks, and creatives to build community and celebrate connection through art. Those early markets created something special—and they still do.

As the markets grew, it became clear there was room—and need—for more.

During the height of the pandemic, women experiencing physical and sexual abuse faced increased barriers to safety and support. Many were isolated, cut off from therapy and resources. In response, we created a weekly, peer-led online support group. Within months, it grew to 250 survivors and became a deeply validating, life-changing space—confirming the urgent need for survivor-centered care and community.

While continuing the markets, funds raised helped lay the foundation for something bigger. In early 2022, we officially became a 501(c)(3). From the beginning, The Usual Artspects served as both our foundation and our primary fundraiser—growing from 12 markets in 2021 to 33 markets in 2025 thanks to an incredible team, board, and devoted vendors who return month after month to support this mission.

As our programs, partnerships, and impact expanded, we reached a transition we had envisioned since day one.

✨ We are proud to share that our organization is now officially named The Survivors Oasis ✨
(OASIS: Outreach, Art, Support, Impact, and Safety)

This name reflects who we are at our core: a safe, empowering space where survivors of physical and sexual violence can heal and reclaim their lives through creativity and connection.

💛 TO OUR VENDORS:
Nothing changes. Our art & vendor markets will continue as The Usual Artspects, and all market info will remain on these pages. Your participation continues to directly support survivor programs, and we are deeply grateful for each of you.

Thank you to our sponsors, donors, partners, vendors, and community for believing in survivors and standing with us.

➡️ Survivor stories, programs, and nonprofit updates will now live exclusively at @thesurvivorsoasis

This one has been a long time coming! ❤️

Our very first @theusualartspects vendor market right in the heart of Historic Downtown Grapevine on Main Street! For reference our markets from @theusualartspects help fund @thesurvivorsoasis. 💕

What makes this especially meaningful is the people who have helped us get here. Some of our vendors have been with us since we first started back in 2021, while others are joining us for the very first time. Their continued support of our organization and its mission means more than they know.

I'm also incredibly grateful to the City of Grapevine for giving us the opportunity to bring our little piece of the arts community to the heart of downtown, showcase these talented small businesses, and share a little more about the work we do.

It's a pretty special milestone for us, and I'm just really grateful for everyone who's been part of the journey. ❤️ @shawnidarling by @theusualartspects
