Red Tip Photinia - AKA ‘Red Robin’, AKA a pretty shrub✨
Although the plant is pretty, the star of the show is the ladybug🐞 by @theveganlol

Great place to stop in York for a coffee and cake, and often not as packed as other coffee spots!
Oh and there’s art too of course - this pic is from when we went to see a William Morris exhibition and it was cool to see how they used to make wallpaper

A classic - this banana bread was HUGE and super filling; lots of nuts, seeds, and spices, as any good banana bread should have 🍌

Cosmos!

Alongside posting food pics I thought I’d post some flower pics since I have about 1000 and it’s rude not to share

Cosmos are actually used in traditional medicine to treat infections, hypertension and to support bone health - the orange/yellow ones are also commonly used as garnish for fancy meals 🥗
Pls don’t take my word as gospel and start eating flowers though I think there’s more nuance to it than flower book tells me

If you have ever doubted the ability to have a good Chinese takeaway vegan, DON’T✋🏼 @orchidvegan is 𝙩𝙝𝙚 best takeaway ever, and we have it way too often for my bank account to be happy about but my happiness (and Ollie’s) is all that matters.
Now I did forget to take pictures of each individual dish so what a shame I’ll have to get it again to do that in the future.. for now see below for our perfected order
✿
𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒚 𝑽𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒏 𝑹𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒔 - £4.80
these are big spring rolls, because small ones just don’t hit the spot the same - they come with a dipping sauce and are packed to the brim, 10/10 no notes
𝑺𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒅 𝑽𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒏 𝑺𝒎𝒐𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒊 𝑺𝒕𝒊𝒓 𝑭𝒓𝒚 - £7.80
The name is a mouthful (no pun intended), we literally cannot get an order from here without this, it’s garlicky it’s not mushy, it’s just a must
𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝑪𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑽𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒏 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒊 𝑺𝒕𝒚𝒍𝒆 - £8.80
This is spicy 🌶️🌶️ but if you like spice it’s an absolute game changer, or even if you don’t like spice it’s manageable mixed with rice!! The sauce has chinese cabbage, mixed mishrooms and chicken (you can get tofu but their chicken alternative is incredible)
𝑽𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒏 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑮𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑶𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒏 - £8.80
This is one for the non-spice lovers, or if you just want more vegan chicken alongside your spice (like we do) - the sauce is a thick gravy-ish consistency which works well with noodles
𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒚𝒍𝒆 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝑹𝒊𝒄𝒆 - £9
Arguably the star of the show, it’s got prawn, sausage, chicken, mushroom, peas, 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 and it’s a huge portion too - what’s not to love
𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝑵𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒍𝒆 - £5.50
Finally a little love for the simple dish, she’s basic but she’s worth it I promise - probably not one to have on its own but great with any sauce (also good for fussy eaters)
✿
I am so aware this is a huge amount of food (and money) but it’s great leftovers are a thing hey! Though this evening there weren’t any..
p.s orchid is a fully vegan restaurant ❤️

Patiently waiting for summer to come back around so we can go back to Trinacria

𝑽𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒏 𝑪𝒉𝒐𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑽𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒏 𝑺𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍
You MUST get these together, the vegan special tastes like the inside of a kinder bueno and so together they’re a match made in heaven
✿
Bonus points for the fact the scoops are huge

You now have to swap out the fior di latte to vegan cheese!!!
We had this a while ago when it was labelled vegan on the menu, it’s now unlabelled but says to swap the cheese to vegan, so I assume it’s still a vegan option👀
Tasty base, love the addition of broccoli and I’m an olive lover so those were a plus too 🫒❤️
