How to encourage your child to speak their mother tongue: 👏

Instead of asking your child:
“What is this? Say it in our mother tongue.”

Many children feel put on the spot and may stay quiet.

Try this instead:
“Adakah ini sudu atau garpu?”
(Is this a spoon or a fork?) 🍴

Let them correct you. ✅

Questions like:
“What is this?”
“Can you name this?”

can sometimes feel too difficult or overwhelming for children who are still learning.

Giving Option A or B helps because:
• Your child can correct you
• They hear the correct word as a reference
• It feels more like a game than a test

Throw in some funny words too to make it more fun! ( and giggly)
Adakah ini kerusi atau kentut? ( Is this a chair or a fart) 🪑 💨
