You may have seen his sketches (@georgelewiscom) about toddlers befuddled by their parents, or about Grand Designs that always go wrong, but now he’s running, and making sketches about the ridiculousness of our favourite obsession (@georgelewisruns).

We were delighted to get Instagram sensation George Lewis on the podcast to tell us how he got into running, why he loves it so much, how he still cringes when filming himself on a run, and how running can be like panning for comedy gold.

Check out the full episode on your favourite podcast platform (just search ‘way of the runner’) or on our website thewayoftherunner.com (link in bio).

It was a pleasure to have @georgelewiscom on the podcast this month; a huge star on Instagram with his hilarious comedy sketches on parenting, Grand Designs ... and more recently running. In our chat, he’s full of infectious enthusiasm about the joys of running, so check out the episode if you’re struggling for motivation this week. He also has some great insights on how running helps with the creative process. George has got so into running recently that he started a separate running Instagram for his running sketches and other content, which is well worth a follow for his unique take on it all: @georgelewisruns

This November we’re hosting our first-ever South-West Coast Path running retreat in south Devon, England, in the company of the wonderful @ultra_damo and @adharanand - and all guided by the ace @dartmoor_fellrunner.

There is now only one place left (or possibly two depending on who signs up) - which is either in a shared twin room (male only) or for a couple, or a pair of friends, happy to share a room.

Sorry not sorry but here are a few more pictures from our Chamonix retreat last weekend. Guest @anthony.burdo lugged his proper actual camera up the mountains, and we’re glad he did as he caught some stunning images. #chamonix #mountainrunning #thewayoftherunner by @thewayoftherunner

Day three of our Chamonix retreat with Stephanie Case was another epic one - following the original UTMB course, with a detour up to Lac Blanc, before tumbling back down into Chamonix and a celebratory gelato. Rounded off by an Anatomy in Motion session and a delicious meal in Bizes (not pictured!). by @thewayoftherunner

Day two at the Chamonix retreat was a big one - 21km from Les Houches up to Brevent and back down to Chamonix (5,450ft of ascent in total). Followed by pizzas at Big Mountain. Cool day, amazing views. @theultrarunnergirl by @thewayoftherunner

Our Chamonix weekend has begun. The sun is out and we’ve dipped our toes in the mountains. Two big days of running coming up … #chamonix #mountainrunning

This November join @adharanand and internationally renowned ultra runner @ultra_damo (a former record-holder over the entire South-West Coast Path) for our first-ever coastal running weekend.

Over two days, we’ll traverse a spectacular 33-mile (53km) section of the coast path in south Devon (with the option to run a shorter distance if preferred), passing isolated coves, small harbours and bracing, windswept cliff-tops.

After each day’s run we’ll recover in style at the beautiful South Sands Hotel in Salcombe, with fireside talks and coaching advice from Adharanand and Damian, and plenty of time to relax and unwind.

The weekend will be expertly guided by the brilliant @dartmoor_fellrunner

In case you missed it, the latest episode of The Way of the Runner podcast is now out, featuring an interview with rising star of British distance running Innes Fitzgerald, once dubbed ‘the Greta Thunberg of sport’ by the Times newspaper after she refused to fly to Australia for a race. Innes talks about how she first got into running - like many people - during lockdown, she describes what it feels like to run in a packed stadium, and she reveals how she is already in training for the Olympics in 2028.

This week she will be running for England in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and the Guardian featured her yesterday in its ‘10 things to look out for at Glasgow 2026’.

To listen to the episode and find out more about this exciting young talent just search ‘way of the runner’ on any podcast platform or visit thewayoftherunner.com (link in bio).

Good luck in Glasgow, Innes!

Big news!

We’re incredibly excited to announce that award-winning author and journalist @adharanand Finn has joined the judging panel for the Manumit Prize for British & Irish Adventures!

If you’ve read Running with the Kenyans or The Rise of the Ultra Runners, you’ll know Adharanand has a unique ability to capture what adventure really feels like. His experience as both an adventurer and storyteller makes him a perfect fit for the prize.

The Manumit Prize was created because we believe adventure doesn’t have to mean flying halfway around the world.

Some of the best stories begin much closer to home.

Whether it’s a long-distance journey, an ambitious challenge, or a series of small adventures that changed the way you see these islands, we want to celebrate the people proving that Britain and Ireland are full of extraordinary places waiting to be explored.

🏆 £1,000 Prize

🌿 Open to stories of self-planned adventures across Britain & Ireland

If you’ve got a story worth telling, we’d love to read it (link to enter is in our bio!)

Adventure is out there.

Sometimes it’s closer than you think.
