We were so humbled this morning when we awoke and found that @airbnb (in their new "2023 winter release features") has finally found a way to recognize yet another league of superhost, and we're included!

Now guests can filter to find "Guest Favorites", which is a selection of Airbnb properties which meet a more strict criteria of ratings.

We pat ourselves on the back a little, but equally we have our fine guests and our housekeeping team to thank for helping us to meet this mark.

We're so grateful!

❄️ 6 Degrees Never Felt So Good ❄️

While the world outside is currently a VERY COLD 6°F (with a feels-like of -12!), we are staying toasty at 102° in our @freeflowspas Azure.

We have over a foot of snow blanketing the deck, but inside these bubbles, it’s pure paradise.

We are riding out the storm in the best way possible at The Weekender. There is something magical about watching the snow fall while the spa is roaring and the steam is rising into the mountain air. 🏔️✨

We are hunkered down, we are warm, and we are loving this winter wonderland!

How are you staying warm today? ☕👇

🥂5 Years of Soaking at The Weekender! ✨

Can we talk about a literal "high" point for the cabin? Five years ago today, we pulled off the ultimate Seven Devils stunt. 🏗️💨

Since our deck is 20 feet in the air and the patio doors are too narrow, there was only one way to get our hot tub onto the deck: a massive crane.

We watched our 400lb. tub fly completely over the roof of the cabin and land perfectly on the deck. It took less than 10 minutes in the air, but it’s been the soul of The Weekender ever since.

We have spent countless nights under the stars, we have watched the snow fall from the warmth of the bubbles, and we have loved every minute of this mountain life.

Happy 5th "Tub-iversary" to our favorite spot on the deck! 🌲🔥

When your guests leave you gifts ❤️❤️❤️. The holiday gnomes will be a great addition to our holiday decorations. We love wine and are very excited to try some from South Africa. Thank you @giraff3lady by @theweekendernc

Happy Halloween everyone!

~ 5️⃣ YEARS AGO TODAY is the day we closed on, received keys for, and spent our first night in what would eventually become The Weekender. ~

December 6, 2019.

There was always some doubt: Had we made a mistake? What did we do?! There were days I would feel like the place might defeat us. Thankfully those weren't the same days Bryan would feel the same defeat. Many sleepless nights were had.

But five years later, here we stand--hundreds of guests later--with something to show for it. We still pinch ourselves. And still have the occasional restless night.

Our 100th 5-star Airbnb review came recently. Doesn't seem like much to some; but to us, it is so dear. If you haven't yet experienced the magic of The Weekender, ski season cometh soon, and it beckons.

We MIGHT have a gnome problem. Somehow we went from 1 to 7 over the last year, for various reasons. This gang is beginning to look a little surly, if you ask me. Maybe they're getting to know each other too well?

Anyhoo, Thanksgiving--that 'dreadful' holiday that gets in the way of Christmas after Halloween--is finally over, so we can decorate now. Look for these guys when you visit.

Is it possible to have a gnome coup? by @theweekendernc

Welcome to our overdue glow-up. Some people look for a beautiful place, others make a beautiful place. We've done the latter, so you can more easily do the former.

These are a few of the things we saw during our short visit at The Weekender this past weekend!

We're still devastated by the destruction left behind by hurricane Helene, and we're glad they retired her name forever. The list of towns welcoming guests is ever-growing, and is finally lengthier than the list of places to avoid, and the greater Boone area is ready to receive guests again!

COME BACK TO THE HIGH COUNTRY! You don't have to stay with us, but do come even if to just help support our local businesses in any way you can, even if it's purchasing a gift card or getting social with them online. If you don't believe there will be anything to do, trust us, there's plenty. Or just go visit @ncmountaintraveler and she'll be sure to change your mind. @nctripping also has a highlight guide.

If you still want to help, please visit supportingwnc.com to learn what type of help is most needed, and where.

A couple of things to remember:
🚧 check NCDOT.gov for passable roadway updates

👀 there are still devastated areas, so be cognizant of being a 'lookie-loo'

⛰️ steer clear of the Blue Ridge Parkway until cleared by National Park Service and parkway officials

🙏 be kind, be patient, & have empathy toward members of our community; it's safe to return to our area, but many remain affected by the aftereffects of the hurricane

👮‍♀️ observe the ongoing curfew of 11P-7A
