Time with the family (or anyone you love) is priceless 💭🌀💖♾️ by @theyogamatt
We can easily turn a blessing into a curse by focusing on its imperfections and undermining or forgoing the value of that blessing in favor of what we perceive to be a more ideal scenario . Not to say it’s wrong to want or strive for something that feels like a better fit , but , at the same time , to overshadow the value of a blessing that is currently in front of us due to imperfections we perceive or challenges that come with it may deprive us of priceless experiences and replace them with prolonged discontent and/or self imposed suffering . Why not indulge in “what is” even if we continue to strive for “what could be” ? Often blessings come with lessons and the “imperfections” we perceive could also be teaching us something that holds great value . Anyways ,,, just a thought 🤔💭🤝🌎🌍🌏 Either way , I hope y’all are doin well out there 😊 Wishin ya nothin but blessings ♾️🎁♾️ 🎼 Instrumental from “Flamin Hot Cheetos” by @clairo 🎵🎶 by @theyogamatt
I’ve been living/teaching yoga up here in Portland , Oregon for a little over a year now and although there have been challenging aspects to moving up here and settling in , it’s been a wonderfully magical experience and I absolutely know why the universe led me up here 🌱🌿✨♾️ That being said , I miss all of you down in Cali that I no longer get to see from time to time . Although I can slack on my inbox and tend to be a bit of a loner ; I think about you all often and the memories of our shared experiences make my heart feel full and my spirit feel fulfilled in a way that is irreplaceable . I know I’m lucky to have gotten to share time with all of you ; whether brief and light or deep and extended ⏳✨💭✨💖🎆🌌 Thankfully that luck has continued and the communities I’m a part of / the studios I get to teach at up here are priceless in their own ways and full of rad humans 🌠✨🎰 @thepracticespace_pdx is a mindful movement studio with elements of reformer Pilates , mat Pilates , yoga classes , functional movement classes and even a unique machine called the CoreAlign that helps you engage the stabilizing muscles in your body that can be challenging to target . @thepeoplesyogapdx are full on yoga studios with a variety of yoga , meditation and mindfulness classes held in all welcoming spaces that are decorated with spirit and infused with good energy . Both of these studios are owned and run by awesome local women who value the practices they offer , the communities they serve and us as instructors 👏🏽🙌🏽 If you live in Portland or if you’re ever in the area and wana come practice , I teach : Monday & Wednesdays ⤵️ ❣️ 7:10am - 8am Vinyasa Yoga at The Practice Space ❣️ 9am - 10am Balance Focused Yoga at The Practice Space ❣️ 12pm - 1pm Vinyasa Yoga at The People’s Yoga ( SE Studio) Would love to have any of you in class 😊 Either way , I’ll be sending you good energy and wishing you a life full of priceless memories that make you feel happy and blessed to look back upon . This message is not meant to be depressing , it’s intended to be informative . When we can see reality clearly we have more of an ability to enact change . Change is only possible if we believe it is first , so , let’s start with that ; believe with me that it is possible to change our world for the better . I don’t know the route to get there because that road has yet to be fully paved but I know if enough of us acknowledge it’s possibility , the way to get there may just reveal itself as we continue our pursuit day by day . Remember , small daily actions can create big changes over time . Things you can do to help create this change : • Boycott and/or divest from companies who are complicit in human rights abuses , political corruption and the destruction of our planet . Even better , let the companies know you will no longer be associating with them and why . • Use your voice ; call/email elected officials and comment on their social media posts so the public can see . Inundate them with accountability / let them know we are watching and that they will not get away with betraying our people or humanity as a whole if they decide to do so . • Stop paying taxes until our tax money is used in a way that benefits the people of our country and not for murdering/abducting innocent people . There is a big tax strike happening right now across the U.S. , you will not be the only one . • Take care of your community , share kindness / love with the people around you ; remind them that the world is full of good people that care . We are the majority . • Refuse to accept / normalize injustice . Disobey immoral governance . Be a **clog** in the machine . Play tactfully and think about the long haul . Anyways , just a few thoughts . Thanks for takin the time to listen / read 🙏🏽🫶🏽🌀💌🎉✨💕 Wishin you magic out there 🌌🪄🌊🏄‍♀️🏄🏄‍♂️♾️ by @theyogamatt
I don’t want to undermine how oppressive and violent the current Iranian regime is , it is actually much more oppressive than the previous dictatorship that the US/UK installed and there would likely not be a way to get rid of it without western intervention . That being said , although I do support the downfall of that violent/oppressive regime , I can acknowledge that the US / Israeli governments are not doing this for “the good of the Iranian people” ; they are doing it for power/control over the region and its resources . Both history and the way this “regime change operation” is being carried out informs my opinion . Bombing the entire country , killing innocent civilians (including many children) , is not “protecting the Iranian people” . The US has the most powerful military in the world and we can’t figure out how not to murder innocent people ; that’s just ridiculous . It shows a lack of concern for human lives/livelihood and reveals what the political parties orchestrating this actually value ; and that is establishing power/control by any means “necessary” . Again , dropping bombs all over the country is not “necessary” , murdering mass amounts of innocent people is not “necessary” but when political goals outweigh the value of human lives , those human lives become secondary and apparently easily dispensable . You can both support the downfall of the violent/oppressive regime that currently has its grip over Iran and not support the people who are doing it because of how they are doing it and why they are doing it . It is important to be critical in times like this . Things are not black and white , the world is full of color and that color gives us the necessary nuance to truly understand what we’re looking at . by @theyogamatt
Dear most of the people I know , I don’t know you anymore . I thought I did but what I thought I knew wasn’t true and now I’m left here wondering did I ever really know you ? Maybe it was just my imagination . You know , rose colored glasses or something of the sort . I truly saw the best in you . But , I’ll tell ya , what a twist it is to realize that most of the people around you really couldn’t give enough of a sh*t to get up and do something when their money is being used to m@ss murd3r children . Like , have I just been in hell this whole time ? What a life changing realization . Oddly , I think the hardest part is that I grew to like and love all these people , I really thought you had a heart . It’s odd to see who you truly are after such a revealing scenario . Turns out , most people in the western world are actually quite mentally ill . It seems they’ve adjusted to a sick society built and run on oppression and in their adjustment they have become the same . Sick . I really do wish you well . Unfortunately , the world depends on it . Either way , f*ck your apathy . F*ck I€3 🖕🏽🧊🖕🏽 & Fr33 P@l3stin3 ⛓️‍💥🍉🕊️ by @theyogamatt
Be aware of what you bless with your presence , time & attention . That’s the holy trio , closer to God than a reverend . 💖⏳👁️🪄♾️ Also , just a reminder to all US citizens ; the pledge was “Liberty and justice FOR ALL” . I wrote a poem . The first line is the title . Here it is : Is anyone out there ?  Please help , I don’t think you realize what’s happening . They’re k1ll1ng children . I mean like really brut@lly k1ll1ng children . You must not know . Please pay attention , they need our h3lp . Oh .. wait … you do know ? Well , why are you just standing there then ?They’re bl33ding , my love , we need a tourniquet . Please help , they have no one else but us . The rest of the world , I thought that would be enough . I don’t understand . You seem consumed by something . Can’t take your eyes off your own life for a moment to help angels who are clawing at the edges of a man made hell hole ? But you’re the ones paying for this . You’re paying to have these children sl@ughter3d . You don’t care ? That’s almost more disturbing than the childr3n being $l@ughter3d . It seems you’ve buried your soul so far beneath your ego it may never escape . I feel for you . Literally . Your unwillingness to feel leaves the burden to others who can’t help but address what’s happening . Plastic . You’re all made of plastic . I’m sorry , I really didn’t realize . A bit of a Truman show this life has turned out to be . Thank god for the internet . All you angels out here on the internet , thank god for you . You are my salvation . May you be the same for the P@l3stini@n people and all those who are 0ppr3ssed . I pray for it . As of now you are still a bright light as I’m stuck in the pit of this never ending black hole . My god , thank you for the people who have stood up and done something . You have revealed yourselves as the true empaths of our world , Earth’s antibodies , the emotional intellectuals . All walks of life . All colors . All creeds . Ironically , it is the same with the other side . Those that condone or dismiss this unimaginable @tr0city . They , too , are from all walks of life . All colors . All creeds . I guess equity does exist in a way . There is nothing superficial that can indicate who a person truly is , but circumstances like this are most definitely revealing . I’ll tell ya , I will never see the world the same again . (Continued ⬇️) by @theyogamatt
Many small droplets of water make up the mighty ocean ; when they combine and move together they can create a force as powerful as tidal waves 💧🤝💧🤝💧🤝💧✨🌊 by @theyogamatt
Important for context : that lake we’re jumping into in those first photos was infested with eels 🌊🐍🌊😟😂🤷🏽‍♂️👏🏽🤸🏽‍♂️ Anyways , someone whose name and face I have unfortunately now forgotten , gifted me with this perspective at one point in time : Humans have the extrordinary power to evolve in an instant , all that is needed is a change in awareness . For example: if I realize something is bad for my health , I can instantly change my behavior to avoid negative health outcomes and promote positive ones . The first step is the awareness of that new information , which is what gives us the opportunity to make a change for the better . Divid3 and c0nquer has been used for millennia by the ruling cl@ss to retain c0ntrol of the people they subjugat3 . I am now thoroughly aware of how much our entire p0litic@l syst3m (R3d & Blu3) has been usurped by w3althy c0rporat3 and privat3 int3rests . P0l0ticians need money for their c@mpaigns therefore they are likely to have d0n0rs who want a return for their mon3tary support . This compromises our d3mocracy by creating a supreme and unfair advantage for those with the mon3y to spare for something like this . If we lived in a true d3mocracy , m0ney would not be able to influence our l@w or p0lotic@l syst3m . Besides all of that , I know harmony between all humans is possible . Our planet is regenerative by nature . If we take care of it , we will almost always get an abundance of what we need in return : food , water , fresh air and a stable place to live . We can influence our collective trajectory by realizing the world we live in , how our small daily choices impact the world around us and how we can use those small daily choices to enhance the likelihood of a healthier planet and ensuring this is a just world for all people . If you decide to do something , know you are not alone . There is a big collective of people out here that sees the interconnectivity of our planet , the injustic3s and c0rruption that separate us from it and the path forward towards a world where all of us have what we need to live a healthy and fulfilling life . The only people who can get in our way is ourselves 🧠⚔️💖 by @theyogamatt
We should celebrate Small Business Saturday like we celebrate Christmas … start early and celebrate all month 😂🎄🎉♾️ In a life where the illusion of powerlessness can be thick , investing in local Mom & Pop businesses can have a monumental impact . By investing , I mean just shopping at these places . Every purchase you make , you’re investing in that store’s longevity while also supporting yourself with whatever buying , there’s kind of a symbiosis to it 💞✨🕉️ From my experience , Mom & Pop’s shops tend to have more heart and soul to them 💖 I think it’s because they are the dreams of the people who own and operate them 💭🌱🌿✨ I live in Long Beach right now and there are many wonderful shops that have quality goods unlike you’ll find in any corporate store 🦄 They also just add so much color to the city 🌈💦✨🌄 The stores are unique , soulful , niche , creative and always operated by a dope local you’re bound to get to know and love over time 💯💘😌☺️🥰🤗 This video is of my sanctuary 💒 You might also call it … my apartment 😂 Anyways , I’m pretty proud of it so I wanted to show you // I get most , if not all the different foods in my fridge/pantry from @ethikli and @amisdelaterremarket , the teas you see in my pantry come from an apothecary called @greenwisdom and all my body products/soap/cleaning products come from @byolongbeach , @eco.now.ca & @fillupbuttercup . They’re some of my favorite stores & help a brother live primary wasteless 🌄 Anyways , getting back to the point , you’re giving gas to whatever you give your dollars to ⛽️ Whatever you buy or wherever you spend money , you’re investing in the existence of that thing . I find it empowering that we can support our community in that way . I get double for my dollar ; I feed the businesses I align with and appreciate , while stocking up on what I need to feed myself lol It also works inversely . When companies do things we do not align with like : pollute , mistreat their workers , manipulate our politics or support prejudice initiatives ; we can boycott/divest , taking the fuel away from the fire . All a skeleton really is is compounded minerals and nutrients from a once living organism . As the earth “processes” a skeleton , it derives the nutrient content and base materials so that it can once again , with time , foster and forest new growth most likely beyond our imagination ☠️🌀🌎✨🌱🌿🌄 Svadyhaha is a part of the expansive yoga practice ; to my understanding , it is essentially observing yourself throughout daily life so you can better understand who you are and what you’re working with . For instance ; when you better know your instrument , you better know what it pairs well with and how to play it . That being said , if we engage in this practice it is likely we will find a “skeleton” or two hidden in our “closet” , and they can be difficult to uncover . That being said , when we find these skeletons ; we have the choice to re-cover them where we discovered them ; which , in the moment , would likely be easier to do . The catch is , they will stay with us and subtlety weigh us down until we decide to process them . We also have the option to take the time to process them when we find them , break them down and derive the nutrient content (lessons learned , developing understanding of yourself or the world from whatever you uncover , etc.) so we can use them to once again flourish new growth within ourselves and our lives , again , probably beyond our imagination 🤔💭🛫🌅↗️↗️↗️🥵🛬🔭🌌🤔 As our internal world would not exist without our external world , I include the external world in my Svadhyaya practice ☯️ The bones of imperialism , colonialism and supremacism have all revealed themselves over the past year . The good thing is , if we address what is happening we can help process this skeleton and foster new growth 💯 What you can do to help will be in the comments below 🔎 Please feel free to add any ideas , would love your perspective if you want to share 👁️🤝👁️🤝👁️🤝👁️🎆✨♾️🌌♾️✨ Free P@l35t1n3 and all 0pr3ssed people 💖🌀🌌✨🛡️🌈🛡️ May those who have freedom help those who do not so one day we can all just enjoy our lives together , most importantly , without the imposition of a selfish minority ♾️💕✨🌎🤝🌍🤝🌏✨💕♾️ by @theyogamatt
