I had the pleasure of chairing an important discussion on how we can get more young people into work. A huge thank you to Siân Berry MP, Graham Parry, Amira Campbell and Kamran Malekzai for sharing their time, insights and thoughtful answers. And ofc the Green Talks team for making it all happen! ✨For all that missed out, the entire conversation is available on YouTube.

Global Majority Young Greens hosted the most wonderful community event to mark Black History Month.

We were joined by global majority city councillors from Bristol and beyond for a candid conversation about local politics and activism.

Our guest speaker, Dr Sam Okyere, shed light on the legacy of slavery and colonisation.

And last but not least, SUTR Bristol was present and handed out some great literature on migration, black history, and local organising.

Thank you to all who attended! by @thisiscynm

Some may know her as the “Mother of Caribbean Carnival” others a foundational philosopher of feminine struggle. Today, we celebrate the mind, life and work of visionary Claudia Jones ✊🏽🖤. Claudia dedicated her life to dismantling oppression of all forms. Setting herself apart from the rest, she was entirely unapologetic in platforming the intersectional struggles Black women face. Her seamless blend of art and activism, left behind a legacy like no other on both sides of the Atlantic.

Celebrating Paul Stephenson and Bristol Bus Boycott ✊🏽🖤. Paul believed “Every generation has a duty to fight racism, otherwise it will find its way into our country and into our home”. While this video centres on Paul other significant contributors/organisers of the boycott include Roy Hackett, Owen Henry, Audley Evans and Guy Bailey. Paul always maintained the boycott was a collective victory belonging to the entire community and not to him.

HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH 🖤.
It goes without saying, but this celebration shouldn’t be confined to one month. Black history, politics, culture and achievement is 365 and deserves to be taught, shared and celebrated 365. And I will fight to decolonise the curriculum always. But in recognition and respect for this wonderful month, I think it’s only right to share some of the knowledge and insights I’ve gained. by @thisiscynm
