The seventh installment of the OFA Mixtape series arrives with a powerful 50-minute contribution from @thisiskrstn representing the @lowendhz crew.

The Singapore-based DJ and event organizer says: “Veered from my usual club-driven, grimey harder sounds and leaned into more melodic downtempo with dancers and flow artists in mind. Fun fact: I used to play a lot of downtempo, trap, and future bass when I first started DJing more than a decade ago – it’s still something I revisit often and it’s been nice seeing how the sound has evolved since.”

Right now for Episode 42 of the 15-Min Flash Mix, we’re slinging some bass in your face with the mixing prowess of Krstn, a proponent of UK bass music that wants to rumble more in a scene dominated by 4/4. A self-professed dubstep head who’s been in love with the genre since she was 16, Krstn has grown with its evolution as it absorbed more experimental and left-field hip-hop influences over the years. A true low-end devotee at heart. ⁣
⁣
Krstn embraces her left-field proclivities with a mix that’s gritty, shadowy and purring with subdued aggression. For the 15-Min Flash Mix, KRSTN pummels with tracks from Pangaea, Mamba and Skream, her teenhood hero and dubstep pioneer who got her into the UK discipline. She unleashes a lurching, lumbering dubstep crawl buzzing with oscillating notes and stripped back percussions.⁣

was I happy with this set? I cant say for sure. super dark reesey dubstep has always been my cathartic go-to, anything that makes me go "can this sound even more macabre and even more leftfield" makes me very excited for me to share as a curator yet also recognizing not every crowd is looking for that experience

as much as I would like to share a part of my world and show one corner of just how broad the dubstep spectrum really is, a major part of me also felt a responsibility to represent the breadth of what 140 can sound like and I definitely felt like I didn't pull my weight as a teammate on the lineup

this post is giving post-match commentary 😆 but it shows how DJing is really so much more than DJing and rather figuring out what resonates in different cities, and constantly recalibrating your instincts. what might fly in one room, might not in another and playing internationally teaches you how every city has a diff relationship with bass music

so much love to the big dawg @somebodyyyy140 behind @onefortyasia for booking me, trusting me, pushing me, and always sharing bits of wisdom so I can learn to bring those lessons back home and keep building momentum for the scene in SG. also very humbled to perform alongside Sumgii and Patrice who are some of the most awesome and interesting people that tirelessly push bass forward in their own ways <3 :))

leaving my mix up on my SC for anyone's critique ^_^V lots of love to my neighbor JD for lending me your recording device teehee

Krstn is a Singapore-based DJ whose sound traverses the gritty pulse of UK dubstep and the high-octane energy of drum and bass. A resident selector for Kings of Bass (KOB), founded by one of Singapore’s drum & bass pioneering veterans, she has lent her weight behind some of the genre’s most respected acts, including P Money x Whiney, Anaïs, LENS (Hospitality Records), Monrroe & Duskee (Shogun Audio), and Buunshin(UKF) — as well as supported Thys (Noisia) and Andromedik(Liquicity) at prominent club nights beyond the KOB banner. With an ear finely tuned to both movement and emotion, Krstnweaves immersive soundscapes that land just as hard in underground basements as they do on main room systems.

Outside the club circuit, she is the founder of Low End—a boundary-pushing event series that champions leftfield, experimental sounds while offering a raw, open platform for freestyle rappers and dancers to spark cyphers in an unfiltered space for creative exchange.

Krstn’s versatility shines through her ability to seamlessly transition across genres and moods—from sweat-drenched bass nights to elegant house sets at venues like Behind The Green Door and The Champagnery, or refined musical pairings in luxe dining environments such as Koma at Marina Bay Sands, where she has held a residency since 2022, and more recently Lavo since 2025. by @onefortyasia

Bass music isn’t always the loudest in the room - but it’s often the deepest.

This week’s Artist Highlight turns to Krstn, a selector rooted in UK dubstep and Drum & Bass - two strains of bass culture that prioritise weight, rhythm and movement over spectacle.

From sustained sub-frequencies and syncopated grooves to textured sound design, her approach leans into physicality and feeling rather than predictable drops. As a resident of Kings of Bass (KOB), she has supported names such as P Money x Whiney, LENS, Monrroe & Duskee, Buunshin, Thys and Andromedik - steadily building her presence within Singapore’s bass circuit.

Beyond the club, she founded Low End - a platform for leftfield and experimental sounds, creating space for freestyle rappers, dancers and producers to exchange ideas in real time.

Catch her this Saturday at GIVE: ME A BREAK at MDLR, where she’ll be performing as part of the lineup ahead of @manao_____ .

Will you be there to experience it in the room?

On 28th February, GIVE: ME A BREAK marks a deliberate pivot away from the usual high-impact energy, diving headfirst into the funk-charged, groove-led world of Electro and Breakbeat.

We launch this new concept with MANAO @manao_____ , a long-time favourite of ours. His releases such as “Nova Geração” and his remix of “Raven” (alongside DAGGA) have earned serious critical attention and deep dancefloor respect.

Born in Maracaibo and now based in Berlin, MANAO fuses UK bass, Detroit and modern electro, Latin club, and jungle into fast, physical, rhythm-driven sets. With releases on major labels and a standout performance at Berghain during CTM Festival 2024, he now brings that same energy to Singapore.

Supporting him on this edition of GIVE: ME A BREAK would be:
