MusicACT annual fundraiser 💙

Committee member, Mitch Lamb, shares some thoughts about the important work we do in ACT and the impact donations have on increasing our music scene’s visibility on a national scale.

What’s up mouth breathers! As usual this is a bit later than it should be, but we’ve got some sick blurry videos to share and so many incredibly people to thank ❤️

Firstly, thanks to all your generosity, we managed to raise $2200 for The Sameer Project and $1100 for the Mob Strong Fund. For those who joined us without a ticket, we hope you had fun! but would strongly encourage you to make a personal donation to either of these incredible organisations.

A massive thank you to @djtamen for making the trip up from Naarm and treating us with 2 1/2 hours of your original wizardry, if you want to hear some of the best d&b/jungle productions coming out right now go show some love!

we can speak for everyone in saying thank you to @garden._grooves @headzarerolling and @thorough_dnb for showing some of the best cbr has to offer and not missing a beat all night. All these awesome people have shows all the time so go support your scene!

And last but absolutely not least thank you to all the incredible people who helped behind the scenes; @gcubillo for tearing it up on the lights and letting us put all your gear in harms way, The mythical DJ Dan for making the earth shake and just being an all round incredible and generous human being, and once again the incredible crew @garden._grooves for crafting such a special space for people to relax and connect.

A longer list than usual, but definitely a good thing! Without the incredible generosity of people giving up their time and energy to help us these events wouldn’t be possible.

@thorough_dnb is mania in the rhythm section

Thorough is the project of Ngunnawal electronic music stalwart Mitch Lamb (Canberra House Social, Free Range, Music ACT, TrustFM). 15 years of performing in and around cbr has allowed Thorough to amass a truly distressing weight of snare-based music. Graciously sharing the sounds of this 100 ton USB stick, expect basslines to chatter teeth and snares licks that would wake slumbering gods.

BPM is of no consequence, prepare for a disorienting mix of bass music, jungle, drum and bass and UKG from one of Canberra's veteran DJ's.

Come catch one of Canberra's greats spin some massive tunes at EGOMANIA! Guiding the dance through the doof's witching hours, Thorough is sure to keep your bones shaking and your face in a constant state of stank.

Attention attention!

Canberra’s underground has been steadily building for decades, and with TrustFM going live, now it has its own dedicated community radio station. To celebrate going live, TrustFM is hosting its official launch party on Sunday 21 June, kicking off at 7pm, from the studio at The Gallery, 131 City Walk, Canberra.

DJs are scheduled to kick off the program and will go live from the party!

We are immensely grateful for the huge response from the Canberra music community through the EOI process.

We have been joyfully programming over 70 curated radio shows. The music is deep and represents a range of sounds and voices from across the city.

We have decided to leave EOIs permanently open and will review them on an ongoing basis till we have a fully curated 24/7 program.

If you want ro get an EOI in (or attend one of our radio show workshops in July) the links are now permanently in the bio ❤️

Excited to share that canberra finally has an answer to what I consider the biggest missing link in our music ecosystem - community-led underground radio.

@trust.fm_ is a music radio station built for the community, by the community. Its been a privilege to work alongside @jordo_haha and @naga.raani_ to help facilitate this.

Lots more news to come, including details about my own DNB / bass music weekly show 🥰
