POSTS STORIES REELS

Hi, I’m Sophie 👋

I help small business owners turn big ideas into practical action plans and I’m someone who really loves the process of figuring things out.

Before starting my business four years ago, I spent 12 years in project management and operations for @aheadpartnership, @leedsbeckettofficial and @shineleeds, which means I’ve always been the person asking 'what are we aiming to achieve and how are we going to make it happen?'.

These days, I bring that into my work with small business owners, creating confidential spaces to think, untangle ideas, and turn them into something clear and exciting.

I've had previous experience of running my own creative business, making and selling prints/t-shirts and running printmaking workshops over at @inkandbear. And I still run @supersecondsfestival, the UK's largest seconds and samples sale!

Swipe to see more about me 👀 let me know if you love and hate the same things as me!

Most small business owners don’t need more ideas; they need clarity on what to focus on next to actually move things forward. That's where I can help.

I support small business owners to take all of the ideas and noise, lay it out clearly, and turn it into a plan that actually works for their time, their energy and their life.

Sometimes that looks like a full deep-dive session, sometimes it’s a quicker, more focused conversation and sometimes it’s ongoing support to help you stay on track.

Have a flick through to see the different ways we can work together, and if you’re not sure what fits, drop me a message or book a call using the link in my bio.

Is your head buzzing with ideas on next steps in your business, but you're struggling to pin down what to prioritise first?

I've worked with over 150 business owners one to one over the past 4 years to help them prioritise ideas to make the biggest impact and a lot of them come to me with similar themes. Too many ideas competing for attention, a business that's changing but no clear plan for what comes next and a feeling that they're busy all the time, but not making the progress they'd hoped for.

By the end of an Incubate Session, the goal isn't just to have "thought about" your business, it's to leave with:

✅ Clear priorities for the next 12+ months
✅ Confidence about what to focus on (and what can be parked)
✅ A realistic action plan that fits your actual capacity
✅ A clearer understanding of the opportunities in front of you
✅ Someone who has challenged your assumptions and helped you think differently
✅ Momentum to move forward

If you're ready to turn a head full of ideas into clear priorities and a realistic action plan, book a no-pressure 15-minute call via the link in my bio and let's chat. by @threebeamsthinking

It has been an absolute pleasure this week to watch Kate relaunch her freelance work as a business, in the form of @boldtype_copy after helping her plan out this big move back in 2024 🎉

Kate and I sat down to do a 5 hour deep dive Incubate Session in 2024 and we planned out the next two years of business, including a complete rebrand and overhaul of her business. And here is the new rebrand in action!

Kate is an incredibly talented copywriter (and the brains behind my Three Beams Thinking business name!) - go and give her a follow over at @boldtype_copy 👀

And if you want to sit down with an operations and business planning expert to structure your ideas into plans, book a no-obligation discovery call to see how I might be able to help 📞 by @threebeamsthinking

When @katiedraws and I met at Atomicon earlier this year, I was excited to hear Katie get as giddy as me about how creatives approach managing time. So when she invited me on the @thegoodshipillustration podcast to talk about it, I jumped at the chance! ⏱️

Today we talked about how time management is incredibly personal and has to suit your approach and preferences, different tools and techniques people can use and how defining your longer term business/ freelance strategy is the best time management technique of all.

It's got me thinking I should book a Capacity Planning to Avoid Burnout workshop in the diary for winter - let me know in the comments if you'd be interested!

I've come a day early to soak up London, see some friends and visit the Tate Modern ❤️

Are you going to be at Wilder Live tomorrow? Give me a wave if I'll see you there!

Big shout out to my husband who has been suggesting for ages that I should get a 4K webcam for online delivery 👀

Look at that difference!

Top = my computer
Middle = the webcam I thought was good
Bottom = my new 4K webcam! by @threebeamsthinking

When you both flip from supporting other business owners and freelancers to grow, to building your own exciting thing 👀

@freelancermag and @threebeamsthinking will still be going strong - but keep your eyes peeled for our collaboration launching soon. by @threebeamsthinking

You know those big ideas that you dream of but never make them happen? Well this week's episode of Do your thing might just inspire you.

This week's guest is Sophie @threebeamsthinking

Sophie's the person to go to for making things happen. But it all starts with your big exciting ideas. And I love that, because there's no point just planning if it's not fuelling your exciting plans.

Exciting plans can happen - it's just about knowing the tiny steps to get you to them.

I've known Sophie for a good few years now but don't think we've ever properly sat down and had a good chat until we recorded this episode.

It's a good one.

There was loads in this conversation that got me thinking about my own business, and I’d love to know what it gets you thinking about too.
