A pillar of Saudi’s fashion industry, Fatima ‘Tima’ Abid Althaqafi has helped steer the Kingdom’s style landscape into what it is today, earning the title ‘The Coco Chanel of the Middle East’ – a fellow boundary-breaker she identifies with. It’s no wonder she asks the world’s press to “Treat me the way you would treat any global fashion house.” And, the accolades and acclaim her eponymous Saudi Haute Couture house has gained shows that the designer, who’s been at the helm of her line for twenty years, has achieved her goal. The Jeddah-based powerhouse talks about her strong Saudi identity, her signature style and why the Kingdom’s creatives are a force to be reckoned with in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar Saudi, on stands now.
