I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Pittsburgh to continue my academic and athletic career!

Thank you to all of my high school track and cross country coaches who have helped to get me to where I am. A special thank you to Coach Hayes, I seriously could not have done it without you.

I would also like to thank my parents and siblings for all of the support and sacrifices you guys have made for me throughout my running career. It means more to me than you’ll ever know.

Finally, I would like to thank Coach Graves and Coach Webb for giving me this amazing opportunity!

I can’t wait to be Pitt Panther 🐾 💙💛
See you in the ACC!

💥 ACL REHAB FOR THE ATHLETE ≠ BASIC THERAPY.

Surgery reconstructs the ligament. Rehabilitation must rebuild the athlete.

At TNT Physical Therapy, ACL rehab follows an integrated, periodized performance model:

0️⃣ PRE-SURGERY PREHAB
Reduce irritability, restore motion, activate the quadriceps, and build the strongest possible starting point.

1️⃣ PROTECTION
Respect graft biology, manage pain and effusion, restore knee extension and flexion, normalize gait, and regain muscular control.

2️⃣ LOAD INTRODUCTION
Reintroduce key movement patterns while progressively building local tissue tolerance and global physical capacity.

3️⃣ STRENGTH ACCUMULATION
Develop the quadriceps, hamstrings, hips, calves, trunk, and total-body strength needed for athletic movement. We assess absolute capacity—not symmetry alone.

4️⃣ TRAINING INTEGRATION
Earn the progression into running, plyometrics, acceleration, deceleration, curvilinear movement, cutting, and reactive drills.

5️⃣ RETURN TO PERFORMANCE
Integrate full-speed movement, fatigue, decision-making, team training, positional demands, contact when appropriate, and competition-level workloads.

Graft type matters. Patellar tendon, quadriceps tendon, hamstring, and allograft procedures each bring different healing considerations, donor-site symptoms, and loading priorities. The plan must reflect the surgery, the athlete, and the sport.

Progression is guided by more than the calendar:

✅ Symptoms, effusion, ROM, and healing
✅ Strength and rate of force development
✅ Jumping, landing, and movement strategy
✅ Running and high-speed exposure
✅ Deceleration and change-of-direction capacity
✅ Sport-specific workload tolerance
✅ Confidence and psychological readiness

A nine-month date is not automatic clearance. Neither is a 90% limb symmetry score.

At the appropriate stage, ACL rehab should start looking and feeling like performance training—because returning to the field requires more than getting the knee “better.”

🚨 TENDON PSA: Pain does not automatically mean your tendon is torn, shredded or one bad step away from exploding.

Tendinopathy is commonly a load-capacity problem: the tendon is being asked to tolerate more than it is currently prepared to handle. Imaging may provide context, but structural findings do not perfectly explain pain or function.

This matters for youth athletes. In one season-long study of 515 basketball players ages 11–18, 19% experienced patellar tendinopathy symptoms and 4.3% experienced Achilles tendinopathy symptoms. Prevalence varies by sport, with jumping sports presenting greater risk.

For growing athletes, accurate diagnosis matters: pain near a tendon may instead involve a developing growth center, such as Osgood-Schlatter or Sever’s disease.

Common rehab mistakes:

❌ Complete rest until it “feels perfect”
❌ Avoiding all uncomfortable loading
❌ Randomly stretching it 47 times per day
❌ Relying entirely on passive treatments
❌ Returning directly from rest to full practice
❌ Treating every tendon with the same protocol
❌ Increasing load, speed and plyometrics simultaneously

What generally works better:

✅ Modify irritating activity without unnecessarily eliminating movement
✅ Progressively rebuild strength and tendon capacity
✅ Use isometrics when helpful—not as magic
✅ Progress toward plyometrics, running and sport demands
✅ Monitor symptoms, performance and next-day response
✅ Manage sleep, nutrition, footwear, recovery and training spikes

Pain is information—not always damage and not automatically a stop sign.

Your tendon probably doesn’t need another pep talk and three weeks on the couch followed by a max-effort tournament.

It needs the right dose of load, progressed consistently. 💪

Load the tendon. Don’t surprise it.
Consistency > quick fixes.

What a summer at @tnt_ignite sports physical therapy🧨

Big shoutout to all of our student physical therapists, summer interns, and staff — you guys crushed it. Thank you for all the hard work, energy, and time you put in helping our athletes get better every day. It was so fulfilling seeing you all grow!

And to all of our athletes — great work this summer. A lot of early mornings, long sessions, rehab, lifting, running, jumping, sweating, and competing.

You guys put the work in. Now go show it.

Good luck to everyone with school, preseason, tryouts, practices, and competition. Excited to see what this group does next.

Keep working. Keep competing. Keep getting better. 💥
