They said ‘seize the day’ but we heard ‘seas the day.’

Los Angeles-based Tom Kubik for Celebrity Cruises.

“This was shot alongside a TV crew, a production company named Artex out of Miami. And when they presented me to Known, the agency that was tackling the campaign, they were an immediate “yes!” So, off I went to Fort Lauderdale to spend 7 days aboard an active cruise ship, shooting at crazy hours of the morning and night.” We sailed the Caribbean with a ship full of guests and about a dozen talent alongside our crew.”

Tom specializes in Corporate, Healthcare, Lifestyle, Portraiture, Social Documentary, and Travel Photography.

I’ve made it a habit to squeeze at least one personal shoot into every job I’m doing. What? After a 12 hour shoot and 4am wake up? Yeah! Is it exhausting? Sure, it can be, but on the flip side, my creative brain is warmed up and ready and what’s a couple more hours when it’s something I love so much. Shot this in Seattle after a long day shoot day in order to pitch for another job. Thanks to @sushimamaglam @irelandkscheer and @smgmodels for helping me throw this together last minute! by @tomjohnkubik

@taldeanb can move like you wouldn’t believe. Had such fun playing in the sand with this guy and trying to capture his movement in a way that was descriptive and creative. by @tomjohnkubik

Oh what a year 3 has been! Happy (belated) birthday to my magical, curious, hilarious, wildly smart, affectionate, loving boy. What a gift to see life through his magnificent eyes. by @tomjohnkubik

2 weeks, 5 stops, 1 wedding, a serendipitous friend encounter and an engagement renewal. Feel nourished and inspired after this trip that started as a journey to marry two of my favorite people @wafflesandhoney and @heathschechinger and ended up being so much more. From unforgettable views and pizza parties with @stecargnello and @zafronmoon, to a surprise coffee meetup with @andy_inthewild, being humbled by the power and beauty of Rome and Venice and meeting tons of new friends at the wedding — it was one for the record books. by @tomjohnkubik

Whenever it’s possible I try to shoot a little something personal during jobs. This one, in between 12 hours shoots, was one of the performers @taimsa_ on @celebritycruises who was using her off time as an extra. I decided to tap her for a side shoot after a long day and we made these beauty moments. by @tomjohnkubik

Fully acknowledge that I am a dirt bag social media person, much to @sternrep ‘s dismay, but I’m going to try to get better at posting things that I shoot. Most of the time I can’t post until they’ve used them and who the hell knows when they’ve used them. This is from, OMG, 2 years ago in Italy and Spain for @celebritycruises with @brothership.film running production and motion. What a joy to take so many photos of @reallifekizzi eating 😆 Bravo to @milakastari with the incredible styling, as always. by @tomjohnkubik

When I need inspiration I pick up a different tool and see what happens. What kinds of beautiful accidents can create? This @papershoot camera has been really fun to slide in my pocket and take everywhere with me. Here are some recent snaps from the last week. You get some farmers market textures, museum architecture and a wild toddler. by @tomjohnkubik

On today, the official 6 year anniversary of my double mastectomy, I feel called to do something. This wasn’t always the case, the next few years after, all I wanted to do was make up for lost time & move on! I definitely didn’t want to hear these 2 words ever again.

So, I hardly spoke about it, could often not get certain words out & finally started overcome the shame of looking in the mirror again. That’s when this image was taken that I was actually planning on showing no one. When the amazingly talent @tomjohnkubik reached out to gift me a photo shoot I immediately said definitely not :) before changing my mind.

All the while, friends started reaching me out to others who were diagnosed & scared or working through their recovery. It felt amazing to be able to listen, give pep talks & share my best hacks! I then decided if this is why this happened to me so I can share & clearly over share, then I’m up for the challenge,

Once I made that decision, this image that was going nowhere is now saving lives & hopefully changing narratives around what catching early can look like. Now go get your mammogram ladies! Xo
