On a pretty cold winters day, in the lead up to the delicious Produce Awards, a film crew visited us and put together this lovely video ❤️ by @torellofarm

So last night we were officially awarded the NATIONAL TROPHY in the 'From the Paddock' category of the 2023 @deliciousaus @harveynormanau Produce Awards for our Belted Galloway beef and Dorset Down lamb!

National judge, chef Andrew McConnell said, "Torello Farm is a deserving winner of this award for their incredible commitment to nose-to-tail butchery and heritage breeds. Their Belted Galloway grass-fed beef and Dorset Down free range lamb have as much integrity on the plate as they do in the way they are reared and supplied to the consumers."

So many people to thank who helped us get to this point, so please read on with the link below (or in our bio) 👇

Last night was made even sweeter seeing our Tuerong neighbours, @tuerongfarm take out the 'From the Earth' National Trophy. Legends in the small grains scene in Australia who grow, mill and bake small parcels of heritage, ancient and interesting modern grains.

With two out of the four delicious Produce Awards' National Trophy Winners from the same dirt road on the Mornington Peninsula - it's needless to say there was quite a celebration in Sydney-town last night ❤️❤️❤️

Cool girls have cool jobs.

Meet Ally, one of the talented growers behind the flowers at Torello Farm. From growing and nurturing to picking and bunching, there’s a whole lot of care behind every stem.

A few things you might not know about snapdragons:

They love spring. Snapdragons thrive in cooler conditions, making spring a beautiful time to enjoy them in the garden.

They’re loved by bees. Bees squeeze their way into the opening of each flower to reach the nectar. And sometimes, you might even find a little bee tucked inside, taking a moment to rest.

Their name comes from their shape. Gently squeeze the sides of an individual flower and watch its little dragon mouth open and close.

A little vase tip: Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline, trim the stems at an angle and place them in a clean vase of fresh water. Keep them away from direct sunlight and heat to help them last longer.

And when the flowers fade? Leave some seed pods to mature and dry on the plant. You might spot their quirky, skull-like shapes. Once fully mature and dry, the seeds can be collected for future planting.

Every flower has a part to play, and planting bee-friendly flowers is one small way we can help support our precious pollinators.

Growing with so much care and love at Torello Farm. See you soon xx

Did you know an asparagus stem is actually called a spear?

And did you know you don’t need a knife to prepare it?

Simply bend and snap the spear near the woody end. It will naturally break close to where the tender part begins, leaving you with tender, ready-to-cook asparagus. 💚
