What a Saturday at Clarence Square! 🎃🐾 From the incredible costumes and The Pupkin Strut to familiar faces, new friendships, and so many dogs and their people coming together, Tricks for Treats was everything we hoped it would be. Seeing our community come together like this is exactly why Toronto Dog Parks started. 💚 A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, @to_downtownwest for their continued support, @ausmalik for celebrating with us, and all our wonderful activation partners, prize sponsors, DJ, photographers, judges, volunteers, and people who helped make the day possible. Congratulations to all our costume contest participants and winners! We’ve been in touch with the winners and are coordinating their prizes. Here are some of our favourite moments from the day, with more photos, winner highlights, partner features, and a special recap video still to come. Thank you for being part of this :) 📸 Photos by @zoeysnaps.pets by @torontodogparks
Toronto Dog Parks started much smaller than it is today. Over the past month, I’ve spent a lot of time looking back at how this started, everything that’s happened since, the people and organizations that have become part of it, and where I want to take it next. Strangely, a lot of the answer brought me back to the beginning. TDP didn’t start with a business plan or a big event. It started around one park. Nugget brought me there over and over again, and getting a dog completely changed the geography of my life. The same strangers became familiar, conversations became friendships, and eventually a small WhatsApp group helped us stay connected. Then more people joined. People suggested things to do, voted, showed up and welcomed newcomers. Other parks and neighbourhoods joined. Businesses, experts, volunteers and partners found ways to contribute. And slowly, something that started around one park grew into something much bigger than any of us expected. Looking back at all of it, one thing kept coming up: People didn’t just join TDP. They participated in it. That’s something I want to build much more intentionally into what comes next. This fall, there will be more ways to shape what happens locally, contribute an idea or expertise, help bring people and pups together, or simply come out and be part of it. TDP doesn’t need to do everything at once. I’ll start locally, learn from what people actually want, and build from there. So we’re starting this week with a simple question: what do you want to do together this fall? First regional votes start this week. by @torontodogparks
A nice Sunday morning at Clarence Square 🐾 We had a smaller crew this week, which meant lots of time to catch up. Binky, one of the TDP OGs, joined us, Koda came out for his first meetup, and Peanut continued making the Clarence fountain part of his Sunday routine. Thanks to everyone who part of their morning with us. Downtown West, we’ll see you back at Clarence Square in two weeks. Next up: Etobicoke & Lakeshore West this Sunday at 10am at Sir Casimir Gzowski Dog Park. And we’re getting ready to bring our bi-weekly meetups to more neighbourhoods very soon 💛 #torontodogparks #dogsoftoronto #dogcommunity by @torontodogparks

It took a little convincing, but Nugget has officially agreed to become Batwoman 🦇 With Tricks for Treats coming up on October 31, we’ve been thinking about how to get even more pups involved in the Halloween fun. So we’re putting together a little Toronto Dog Parks Online Costume Contest! 🎃🐾 Whether you can’t make it to Clarence Square, have multiple costumes planned, or just want another excuse to dress up your pup, we’d love to see what you’ve come up with. We’ll be sharing costume entries and having some fun voting for our favourites leading up to Halloween! We’re still finalizing the details and giveaways, so stay tuned for how to enter. And yes, one of the rules will be real costumes only. No AI outfits. Nugget worked far too hard getting hers to stay on 😂 In the meantime, start getting those costumes ready! Who’s already got their pup’s Halloween outfit planned? #TorontoDogParks #TorontoDogs #DogHalloween #DogCostumeContest #TricksForTreats by @torontodogparks
