My sketchbook vs. my practice book 📖✍🏻Consistent practice isn’t just about discipline - it’s about finding joy in the process and staying motivated by your progress 👍😊Some days, I don’t feel like it, and that’s when discipline kicks in 😁📗 You can download « Practice Book For Landscape Sketching » and a sketching habit tracker on Gumroad (link in bio). When you draw the same elements multiple times, you are building your muscle memory. Your brain learns through repetition and the movement of the hand becomes automatic 🧠✍🏻Notice that when all the houses are the same size, the view looks unusual. But this is a great way to develop your abstract thinking! When perspective is normal, it doesn't attract your attention. Here, the abstract scene forces your mind to see and understand how perspective works💡You can also compare how the same house looks from different perspectives, experiment, and choose the angles you like best.Plus, this exercise is great for improving hand-eye coordination 😊👍I’ve added these practice sheets to my Practice Book for Landscape and People Sketching. If you already have the book, you can download the updates from your Gumroad library or from Google Drive if you purchased it on Etsy 📚Happy drawing!#learntodraw #sketchingtime #drawingtutorials #sketchingdaily #howtodraw by @daribodrawing

I think drawing is a bit like cooking. 🧑‍🍳 Sometimes you need just a few ingredients to make a nice dish. And often, during the process, you get the idea to add this or that and make it according to your own taste. And tastes differ. In this little sketch, I used just a few basic lines, and for example I added only a few marks to suggest the field - kind of like sprinkling some salt on a dish. Don’t add too much - less is more. That little black dog is like a raisin on a bun. It’s not just a dog, it attracts the viewer’s attention and adds some movement and warmth to the picture ✨Like in a good dish, every little detail matters, but many of those decisions happen intuitively. How much of this should you add? Well, I just feel when it’s right. Often it comes from experience, and often from simply taking the risk to try things out.Oh, and I forgot to mention perspective. It helps lead the viewer’s eye and shows the scene from a certain point of view. How do you decide where to put the horizon line and the vanishing point? You just try and see 😊👍#drawingtutorial #perspectivedrawing #learntodraw #sketchingdaily by @daribodrawing

🍄‍🟫 I like practicing with mushrooms because simple organic forms are surprisingly good for training your eye.Today I focused on:👌 contour lines to describe the surface〰️ line weight to create depth🌿 simple background elements so forms don’t feel like they’re floatingRepeating the same subject helps me notice small things I’d otherwise miss.Do you ever practice by drawing the same thing over and over? ✍🏻😊#learntodraw #drawingtutorial #sketchingdaily #sketchingtime #mushroomdrawing by @daribodrawing

Here’s a fun idea to practice organic shapes, line work, and contrast ✍🏻😊I especially like leaving a white stripe along the edge and adding shadow under the mushroom cap 🍄‍🟫Draw some grass and add the ground to complete the sketch and make it pop ✨👍Day 2 of 30 days of sketching ✔️#sketchingtime #sketchingdaily #drawinghabit #drawingtutorial by @daribodrawing

One of the most helpful things when drawing trees is to study their proportions and overall outlines first, and then add texture and details 🌳I have a book with a collection of drawing exercises that I come back to and practice over and over again. The trees in this book are pretty exotic and really fun to draw! They’re great for practicing different shapes, textures, and line work 😊Hope you’ll enjoy it! The link to the book “How To Draw Trees” is in my bio.Let me know if you have any questions 👍#howtodraw #learntodraw #drawingbook by @daribodrawing

I’ve been drawing daily for more than 3 years. What helped me most wasn’t talent. It was finding a simple way to stay consistent and actually keep practicing ✍🏻📚 I collect, create and organize materials by topics and skills ✍🏻 Each book focuses on one area.✅ I designed a habit tracker. It shows progress over time and is a great visual reminder.⏱️ I set a timer to stay focused and avoid overthinking. 25 minutes a day is my minimum. ✍🏻 I repeat and draw in rows. It creates structure and makes it easier to learn and compare progress. It also trains spacing and alignment.📖 I keep prompts next to me to easily glance and draw.🖊️ I use a fineliner. I don’t erase to learn from my mistakes it saves a ton of time. I draw on plain paper or dotted sketchbook (I recommend trying both).Let me know if you have any questions! Do you have a system?#sketchingtime #drawingpractice #sketchingdaily #learntodraw by @daribodrawing
