🚨BREAKING: The Buss family is entering an agreement to sell majority ownership of the Los Angeles Lakers to Mark Walter, the CEO and chairman of diversified holding company TWG Global, sources tell ESPN. Walter has been a minority stakeholder in the Lakers since 2021 and has interests in multiple professional sports organizations, including the LA Dodgers, WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, the Billie Jean Cup, Cadillac Formula 1 team and the Professional Women’s Hockey League.Jeanie Buss will continue to serve in her role as Governor after the sale. Los Angeles Lakers Offseason Plan 🔥Last season, the Lakers shocked the world when they were able to land Luka Doncic via trade with the Mavericks. Now, they will be tasked with putting a true championship level roster around him. It was clear the Lakers needed a center in their first round loss to the Timberwolves. The Lakers trade for Mark Williams fell through at the trade deadline, and now they are linked to other big men on the market.The most rumored of these big men is Nic Claxton. Claxton fits a similar profile to that of Dereck Lively II, who worked perfectly alongside Luka Doncic as a lob threat and rim protector.Doncic has a number of ways to extend his contract this offseason. The most likely scenario is a 2+1, allowing him out opt out of the 3rd year and become eligible for a super max in 2028. The Lakers are also favorites to land Nickeil Alexander-Walker in free agency according to Bovada Sportsbook, though LA will need to shed some salary to open up the mid-level exception to make him a legitimate offer.In this offseason plan, we made a deal for Nic Claxton which sent out $34M in salary, along with a first round pick, only bringing back Claxton’s $25M to allow more financial room to manoeuvre. This move, along with re-signing LeBron & Finney-Smith to multi-year deals rather than accepting their player options, opened up the MLE to sign Alexander-Walker whilst staying just below the 1st apron.
