MY STORY CONT.....

I got my first job as a computer games tester with zero qualifications, later studied animal care and behaviour, worked in veterinary practice and eventually at Liverpool University Animal Hospital.

Then I found the Operating Department Practitioner role within the NHS and knew that was what I wanted to do.

At 23 years old, I went back to night school to do my GCSEs whilst working full-time.

I felt embarrassed sitting in classrooms with teenagers, but I worked incredibly hard and got the grades I needed.

Then came university and NHS training full-time alongside studying full-time.

It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

But during those years my health started deteriorating badly.

Eventually I was diagnosed with:
• Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)
• Severe spinal problems and nerve damage
• Arthritis
• Fibromyalgia

Still, I kept going.

I qualified, worked as an ODP at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, became a mum to our son in 2012 and later our daughter Molly in 2017.

But over time, my body simply could not keep up anymore.

After years of pain, medication, tests and fighting to be heard, I eventually needed major spinal surgery — a brutal 6–7 hour operation shortly after losing my dad to oesophageal cancer during COVID.

The recovery was horrendous physically and emotionally, but somehow… I got through that too.

And honestly, that’s been the pattern throughout my life.

No matter how many times life has knocked me down, I’ve always found a way to get back up.

Do I still struggle? Absolutely.

One of the hardest parts of chronic illness has been feeling like I haven’t been able to do as much with my children as I wanted to.

But it’s also why creating a life with more flexibility, time freedom and financial security matters so much to me now.

Losing my NHS salary was terrifying for our family.

That’s why I started building something from home alongside my health challenges — because I needed hope again, purpose again and a future that worked around my body, not against it.

I am determined.

Things may take me longer than other people… but I will get there. ✨ by @tracey_tweedle
