The weekend was bittersweet. I was able to finish the event in an unexpected 4th place overall, placing the @dcsports Integra just 5 points shy of a first podium. I’ve come close to this podium a few times, but I just haven’t been able to put it all together yet. It will come, we just have to keep chipping away at it.
Lealand Wamboldt spent most of the weekend battling some electrical gremlins. Multiple throttle position sensor failures on a cable operated throttle body that we hoped would be more reliable than the drive-by-wire on my Integra. Later, a dropped valve during Race 4 would throw a nail in the coffin for the 204.
It’s been a rough season for Lee. A fuel tank strap failure at CMP, followed by his throttle getting stuck wide open at Mid-Ohio that sent him into a wall going into key hole. It required an entire frame rail replacement to make this event, but it just shows Lee’s resilience and that Track Monsters “Keep Pushing” mentality.
On the positive side, when everything is working, the pace of the 204 is promising and improving every round. It’s essentially a clone of the DC Sports Integra, minus a few small details. Lee qualified only 4 spots behind me in a busy qualifying session, just a couple of tenths down. Once the reliability issues are worked out, I’m sure the 2 integra’s will be beside each other at every race.
The DC Sports Integra hasn’t received many upgrades since Carolina Motorsports Park. Mostly because I’ve been busy working on getting my Private Pilots License. It’s taken most of my time and focus. But I’m now on the home stretch, chasing a dream I never thought possible just a year ago.
I did make a few small aero upgrades that I’m testing out, so I’ll try going over those in a later post.
Overall, the feelings after this weekend are positive. We are obviously still not at a point where we are contenders for the podium. At least not without a bit of luck. But we’re not that far off either. Our next event will be PittRace in a few months. The goal will be to resolve the reliability issues so these weekends become much less stressful and more enjoyable for the whole team!

There is so much to cover from this weekend. It was by far the most fun we’ve had all season long with both of us running a different car this weekend. Lee got behind the wheel of the @dcsports Integra, while I finally got to take my S2000 out for the first time in almost 3 years.

Thursday was testing day. It was my first time running the new extended Pitt Race layout, so I spent all day getting familiar with the course. There are several blind corners that take practice and repetition to get right, so I spent as much time out on track as possible while Lee got acquainted with the Integra.

For the last session of the day, I sent Lee out in the S2000 to experience a fun RWD car. To have your first RWD track experience in an AP1 S2000 is special, and I’ll tell you, the car did not disappoint. He can’t stop talking about it haha.

The weekend didn’t go without a few issues which I’ll explain over the next few post. And even though we hoped to be a little further up the finishing order, I’d say the weekend was a great success. Both cars went back into the trailer the same way they came out, and we got to experience some fantastic battles in both rain and shine on now, one of my favorite circuits.

The S2000 is FINALLY coming out to play after sitting for almost 3 years. I spent the last few weekends getting her up to date with safety equipment, general maintenance and basic setup suspension tuning just to make sure the wheels and tires even fit.

It didn’t make sense to have Lee rush to rebuild his Integra for our final race this season at Pitt Race, so we decided to go to PLAN B and have some fun.

I’ll bring out the S2000 for a shake down and Lee will jump into the DC Sports Integra for some seat time in a similar, but different Integra. It’s amazing what you can learn by doing a few laps in a friends car.

I bought my S2000 back in 2021 and fell in love with it. It’s just a regular AP1 with the factory F20C, but I’ve never had more fun behind the wheel of any other car. It isn’t built for the GLTC class, so I won’t be playing at the pointy end, but I know I’ll be smiling every single lap I’m out there.
